Painted into a corner

This is quite a perplexing predicament you've ended up getting yourself into. If you refuse Tom's advances, Greg will probably more than likely be mad at you for losing him the opportunity to become school superintendent. If you do accept his advances, you run the risk of James finding out about it. Just when you think things couldn't get any worse, who else would just happen to walk into the restaurant but Nicole and her blond haired Nord of a husband, Arthur. She sees you, smiles, and waves as she walks over to your table. You gulp down the rest of your wine in shock as they both approach you.

"Why hello there Katherine. Fancy meeting you here!" she says, beaming at you. "I just wondered if maybe you have given any thought to what I proposed to you earlier today? Is James around? I'd really like for both of you to meet my studly man here."

Tom looks at you, his eyes full of confusion. "Who's James?" he asks. You sit there with your mouth hanging open, not quite sure what to say

Fortunately for your ass, Nicole recovers quickly as she catches an inkling of what's going on. "Oh! That's Katherine's brother. The two of them are usually quite inseparable. Where you find one, you'll usually find the other." She looks at you, and smiles knowingly. "If you happen to see him, tell him I said hello. We have reservations, so we better not keep the matradee waiting. We'll talk more tomorrow, Katherine. It was nice seeing you."

With that, she and Arthur take their leave of you. You can't help but breathe a sigh of relief over the bullet you just dodged with Nicole's help. But you know the reason why she did this, and now, whether you like it or not, you owe her one. Now the question remains what do you do about Tom? You think about it for a while, you know what Nicole is going to expect of you tomorrow, so what's the difference in getting an early start on betraying your vows? Arthur is a very charming, and studly looking man. Something like what you'd imagine Thor or even Odin to look like. Tom himself is no slouch. He's kind of handsome for an older man.

"So, Katherine, have you thought about how much you want Greg to have this job? Or should I give it to someone else?" Tom is pressing you now for an answer, and you know you have to give him one.

"Exactly what did you have in mind?" you ask.

"The night is still young" begins Tom. "I propose we all go back to my place for a few nightcaps. I will spike Greg's, and put him out of commission for a while. That way we can have some alone time together to get to know each other a bit more intimately."

You know this is all against your better judgment, but it's something you feel can't be helped. "All right" you answer with some trepidation. "We can do that."

"Good!" Tom smiles, sounding elated. "We'll leave for my place as soon as he gets back."
