PC Connors has another beer

Connors grinned at the bar man and sank a second beer that had appeared in front of him. He was starting to feel good - very good. There was a warmth radiating from his stomach through his body and he felt strangely energised. He looked at the mirror behind the bar man and it seemed for one moment as though the bar man had no reflection. What he did see was a figure behind him, a figure shrouded in black, a figure that seemed to be reaching for him. Connors span around, but there was no-one there.

Connors looked around wildly for the figure, but could not find him. He spun back to the bar.

"Did you see that guy?"

"Who?"

"The guy -- he was right here. Right here behind me."

The bar man grinned. "Oh him. He went into the toilets." As Connors looked towards the door to the toilets, he continued smoothly "Or he might have sat down in one of the booths. Or gone into the Games Room." He smiled at Connors and slid another beer towards him.

Connors ran his hand through his previously pristine hair. He took a gulp of the beer and then decided to go in search of the figure he had seen.
