On the Airship
Maggie ran out as the pirate's airship started. Thinking on her feet, Maggie lunged for a rope that hung from the open hatch of the ship. It was a risky move, but she had no other choice. Her hand closed around the rope, and she swung herself out into the night, her body sliding through the air. The pirates had not anticipated her daring maneuver, assuming that they'd left her behind, and she clung on for dear life as the ship began to ascend.
As she climbed, the rope grew slick with oil and sweat, making it difficult to hold on. She was gaining on them, though, and could see the shock on their faces as she approached. But then, disaster struck. Her steam gun, her trusty companion, misfired, sending a spray of hot steam directly into her face. She screamed in pain and surprise, the blast knocking her off-balance. She lost her grip on the rope and began to fall to her ****!
The captain, seeing his opportunity, reached out and caught her by the wrist. He hauled her in, throwing her down onboard the airship at the center of his crew.
"Look what we have here," he leered, his breath reeking of rum. "A little bird trying to steal our loot!"
Her clothes were already damp from the misty night air, and the steam had made them cling to her body like a second skin. She could feel her breasts pressing against the fabric of her shirt. The pirates gathered around her, their eyes glinting with malice.
But Maggie Brass was not easily cowed. With a coy smile, she batted her eyelashes at the captain.
"Perhaps we could come to an... understanding," she purred, trying to buy herself some time.
The captain's expression softened, his grip loosening slightly. "And what might that be, love?"
"Your ship, it's... it's magnificent," she lied, her voice dripping with honey. "I've always dreamed of seeing the world from the skies. Maybe I could join your crew?"
The pirates exchanged skeptical glances, but the captain was intrigued.
"What makes you think you'd be of any use to us?"
"I'm an inventor," she said, her voice gaining confidence. "The best in Clockhurst. I could improve your ship, make it unstoppable."
The captain's eye narrowed, and she could almost see the gears turning in his head. "What's your name, girl?"
"Maggie," she replied, hoping he wouldn't recognize her surname. "Maggie... Smith."
"Well, Maggie Smith," he said, a smirk playing at the corners of his mouth. "You've got yourself a deal. But first, let's get you out of those wet clothes. They're hardly suitable for flying."
Panic surged through her, but she kept her expression calm. "Of course," she agreed, allowing him to lead her towards the cabin. But as she stepped inside, she noticed something peculiar—a set of blueprints on the table, and they were not for her invention. They were for something much, much bigger.
The blueprints were of a massive steam-powered cannon, capable of reducing a city block to rubble. They were going to use the infinite steam engine they'd stolen from her to power it. The sight of them sent a chill down her spine, and she realized the pirates had grander plans than mere theft. This was no ordinary band of thieves; they were part of a larger conspiracy that threatened the very heart of Clockhurst. She also realized the blueprints had been made an inventor of some skill... could it be her rival Dot?
