On a new kind of safari

Though training your current pokemon is an option, you’re not sure how much it would help. None of your pokemon are a good match for a Venomoth. For the first time since Cerulean, you might need a new pokemon in order to make it past this gym. But what pokemon? Which ones can you catch in the area? You leave the Pokemon Center pondering this, but those thoughts quickly get sidelined by the sign you come across. ‘Safari Zone Grand Reopening: TODAY! →’

You audibly gasp loud enough to make a few bystanders look at you, but they’re not even blips on your radar. Beyond eager, you skip towards the Safari Zone for a chance to enjoy the attraction at last. You don’t have to go very far to find that the sign is legitimate. In just a day, the road leading to the Safari Zone has been completely revamped, bearing no resemblance to the old, rundown area you visited earlier. The long line to get in is somewhat disheartening, but you hold fast in anticipation.

Finally you make it into the waiting room and find yourself face-to-face with a familiar old man. How could you forget, it’s the man that saved you from Team Rocket! And also saw you in an unmentionable state… And lectured you fiercely for it…

“Welcome to the Grand Reopening of the Safari Zone! Entry is $40! No food or beverages, it’s for the safety of the pokemon and definitely not so I can fleece you for overpriced meals once you’re inside! You waive all liability for Safari Zone Inc past this point, so we’re not paying your medical bills if your dumb ass gets trampled by a Tauros!”

He doesn’t seem to recognize you at all, but maybe that’s for the best considering it’s saving you from any more lectures. Let’s see, $40… Wait, $40!? “Umm… I can’t afford that…”
