When Brenda falls back onto the floor on her overturned chair, you go into first responder mode. After a worrisome few minutes checking to see whether she had picked up a concussion, you determine that it's most likely she's just picked up a hard bump to the back of her head, best treated with pain relievers and an icepack.

And a ride home.

Fortunately Brenda has no more appointments that afternoon, and you don't have any time scheduled -- which is how you happen to be there, hoping to get her help with finding Olivia and Margarita a new posting as part of their nurse training, now that Ms. D'Arcy in Physical Therapy has sent them away for having a quickie together while they were on break.

Oh, if Ms. D'Arcy only knew what happens in other parts of the hospital. Ah well.

Brenda is apologetic as you settle things and help her get put back together -- panties, slacks, Advil and cold pack -- and walk her to your car so you can drive her home.

Brenda's house is quiet. The cook has already been and gone, leaving tonight's dinner to heat up. Tom Box is off doing whatever rich men do.

"Brenda, can I call someone to be here?" you ask. "I know you're not feeling that bad, but you do have a bump on the head, and I'm not sure about just leaving. Maybe Betty?"

Brenda nods. "She's a sweetheart. See if she can help."

But Betty isn't answering her phone, so you end up staying at Brenda's until Tom comes home, and immediately departing before he can finish the extended remarks he's favoring you with about his wife's lesbian harem.

Justified remarks, perhaps, but Brenda and Tom's marriage seems more built on mutual lust and convenience than respect and care.

Unlike yourself and Vincent, of course.
