“Aria!” The voice cried again.

“I’m here Papa.” He called back as Eric hide behind a rock.”

“There you are.” His father said as he swam closer “I’ve been looking everywhere for you.”

“I’m sorry. There was wreckage from the storm, I was curious.”

“Your just like your mother, and look where that got her...”

“Papa... you know all humans aren’t like those...”

“No... just the women... always taking what isn’t there’s.”

Aria’s father spun in the water and wave his hand, causing the rock to explode.

“Who are you?” He yelled.

“Please don’t hurt me.” Eric cried.

“Hum... just a boy.” The elder mermaid said. He waved his hands again and water flowed onto the beach in such a way he could enter and move closer to him.”

Eric got a good look at the creature staring him down. He finally understood why old sailors called beautiful men “Sirens”.

“I asked you a question, child, or did you not hear me?”

“I...I’m Lady Eric of Kent...” he studded “I... I think.”

“He was washed off the human ship in the storm, father, I didn’t want him to drown.”

The mermaid looked at his son before returning to the human.

“The ship is long gone...” he said “or else I’d take you back myself... but...
