Of course you search for her

“You're right, I should look for her,” you say, “I can't just sit around here if something could be going wrong with my girlfriend. I need to find Tom and borrow his car.”

“You can borrow mine,” Leyla says and throws you a key, “it's my mother's lake house after all so I'm going to spend the night here. Maybe with one or two lovers. I'm too drunk to drive anyway. And I tell Tom that you left when I talk to him about dating.”

“You are the best,” you answer and hug Leyla, “Which car is yours?”

“The expensive one, of course,” Leyla answers grinning, “I would never drive a car cheaper than 30.000 Dollars. Be careful to not damage it or you will have to work for me for the rest of your life. Have a good night, peasant. And drive me back home tomorrow.”

You run to the parking lot and Leyla returns to her guests. You aren't sure if this hurry is appropriate because you don't know if anything bad happened to your girlfriend. But you are too worried to slow down. Luckily the car is found quickly. It's the only one from a brand far beyond anything a college student could afford and every other car keeps its distance so there is not the slightest chance to scratch it.

You get in and start it carefully. The car has an uncommon handling but nothing you can't deal with. Soon you are on the road that leads to Jenny's home. You drive carefully to not miss anything that could give you a hint. After an hour you try to call her on the mobile phone but nobody answers. You are absolutely sure she should be at home by now and can answer her phone again.

Because you are slow you have searched less than half of the way by now and you are still out of town. You look at the large forest and think about driving to the dormitory and waiting until tomorrow. While driving you see Jenny's car parked at the side of the road. You park Leyla's car behind Jenny's car and get out. Using your mobile phone as a flashlight, you check the license plate. There's no doubt this is Jenny's car.

You check the inside of the car. It's not locked and the key is on the passenger seat. Her wallet too. And the things you bought for the picnic are in the backseat. The car also isn't damaged so she wasn't stopped by ****. But she is nowhere to be seen. Your thoughts race. Could someone have kidnapped her? Or maybe the police arrested her for something? Was she drunk when she left? You didn't see her drinking.

This makes no sense. If it was the police they would not leave the car here, especially not unlocked and with the key on the passenger seat. Kidnappers would take the car with them to sell it, or at least the wallet. But why would there be kidnappers on his road? Nobody sane would stop a car if it could be avoided. Something must have happened here and you can't think of a suitable reason why someone should stop here and then disappear.

Your thoughts are suddenly interrupted by a loud wolf howl. You turn around surprised. It came from the nearby forest. You've heard that there are wolves in the forest and the local hunting club and the rangers count them regularly. However, no wolf has recently been seen close to the town. To hear one that close isn't a good sign. Your first thought is to get back in Leyla's car and drive away. But what about Jenny. If there are wolves she could be in danger. Maybe you should go to the forest and take a careful look at it.
