Chapter 15 by GenericEditor168 GenericEditor168

Will you accompany Arnaxis back to his clan?

Of course!

"Excellent." He says, then looks up at the slowly darkening sky. "...We'll set out on the road tomorrow."

You spend the night in the cabin with Arnaxis, sleeping on top of him in the bed. Despite the rather intimate position, the draconian seems sated enough from earlier in the day, and you don't get to have sex with him again that night, or in the morning as he rises early and gets dressed for the day's traveling.

The road you travel down is long and winding, and little more than a track where the ground has been pounded more or less flat and the rocks swept to one side. You often find sticks cracking beneath your boots as you walk. Arnaxis proves to be fairly quiet company once out on the open road, keeping a wary eye on the surrounding greenery, leaving you with little to do other than watch the forest around you.

It's certainly a nice place to walk. The trees tower up high into the sky like fingers reaching to grab the light, and long creepers stretch across the path, small flowers bursting up all along their length, leaving the track highlighted in purple and blue between the numerous greens of the undergrowth.

It’s not just plants to look at, though. There seems to have once been an attempt at settlement made here, and small cottages and a logging camp lie unattended and slowly rotting, new growth bursting from their rotting timbers. There’s even an old church, with a graveyard set in the shade of an old elm. You peer over the stone wall that separates the church land from the road, into the graveyard. There are several freshly dug graves, but none of them seem to have been used yet for burial. Some of them seem to be half-dug, messy holes with piles of dirt splayed all around. Strange. Why would they give up burying people halfway through?

As you’re pondering that, a cluster of figures emerge from the greenery next to the path. From the tattered clothes and greying, rotten flesh, not to mention the empty eyes and staggering gait, it’s clear the inhabitants of the cemetery are rather more active than you might have hoped for. Zombies! Arnaxis pulls out his longsword and drops into a defensive position in front of you, leaving you with the question of how best to support him…

How will you support your companion?
