You leave the gym and see a group of people on the bridge that marks the northern exit of Cerulean City. You go over and see what the crowd is all about. There are a few trainers and ordinary citizens crowded around a Pokémon battle...between Blue and some rando.
Blue and his Wartortle easily squash the trainer and he crosses the bridge. You head up to the bridge to follow him, but the trainers make you take the nugget bridge challenge, having to beat all five in a row just like blue did.
You send out your Poliwag and demolish all five of them, allowing your poliwag to evolve into Poliwhirl.
The leader of the five pulls you away from the crowd and asks,"You're pretty good kid. What say you join team rocket?"
