Not yet. You came on too strong.

"You don't wait to long to get to the point, do you John?" she tells you, making you think that she is going to slap you or have you run in, but the breezy way she says that and the giggle she can't suppress tells you she's a little flattered.

"Came on too strong, didn't I Katie?" you ask her, Katie brushing the hair out of her face as she giggles again and nods her head yes, "well, at least you didn't take it the wrong way. Allow me to start over."

"Don't bother John, it's cool. I would like to offer you a compromise and allow you to hang out with me tonight, since I actually don't have anything to do tonight."

You hadn't the slightest idea what this "compromise" was, but you had already gotten further with her than you ever thought possible after you overplayed your hand with her to start with, so you're game for it.

"Works for me Katie," you tell her, seeing her eyes dance as she looks at you, giving you the sense that she was hiding (or, more likely, waiting for the right time to share with you) something she might be embarrassed to share as you head for her bus.

"Now that we're on the bus, I have to share something with you John, she tells you, "and it's not easy for someone as old as I am to admit this, but it's the real reason why you freaked me out a little earlier."
