Not very pleasing on account of the company, but otherwise glorious and fantastic

Marvolo was attending the Quidditch World Cup with Lucius Malfoy and Draco, and frankly..........Couldn't for the LIFE of him decide who between the two was worse. On the one hand, Draco was arrogant, cruel, and a bit incompetent, on the other hand Lucius was arrogant, cruel and pompous. The upside, if it could be called such, was that he didn't need to suffer alone, the Minister for Magic had that Co-Honor. The match was the final between Ireland and Bulgaria, Draco and his Father, were Pro-Bulgaria. Meanwhile Marvolo didn't much care who won, he was more interested in the team with the better tactics and play. Hence his reason for agreeing, albeit reluctantly, to joining Draco.

True this wasn't the sole reason, but he wasn't about to tell them that. He had nothing to gain, and if anything Draco was still trying to knock Marvolo off the perch of the chief Slytherin in their year. Well, as far as the boys went that were. Draco would normally have won hands down no contest, BUT!!! Draco was of LESSER lineage compared to him, Marvolo was purer than Draco's mom, and she was born Narcissa Black. Marvolo was more directly descended from old man Salazar Slytherin, more so than any one else, there was no one who could claim otherwise, and the only one who could was more or less deceased. Marvolo stood at the peak of Slytherin four Fourth Years. He'd maintained this position of prominence for as many years, and more than that, he had the influence over his yearmates and those below them, to be their leader. NO ONE dared move against him, for he was known to be generous to friends, ruthless to enemies. He defended his position Smartly and Resourcefully, he had eyes and ears near everywhere, he had friendships in other houses, and even some of the elder students feared his wroth.

Marvolo could outwit, outplay, outperform, and outdo every opponent who dared challenge his position of power so far. If he couldn't discredit or bribe them, he'd hex them from afar and ensure they knew of his displeasure. He was in essence, Untouchable.

Marvolo sat in the Minister's Box with Cornelius Fudge, and the Malfoy's. He watched as Fudge announced the match and paid special attention to the Bulgarian National Team's Star Player, Victor Krum. He Was extremely talented, and, he was popular with women, not unlike Marvolo, Marvolo who had started a relationship with Daphne Greengrass. Chiefly because she was main ally among the girls, and because he kept the other Slytherin's off Tracey's back, one thing led to another before ultimately they were together and mostly it was physical attraction, in all truth, he was really courting Davis, Granger, and Ginervra Weasley. A lot of girls pursued him, but Marvolo found comfort in a select few, and the Weasley Girl, Granger and Davis were amongst those few he found comfort with.

Naturally he was required to keep his courtship of Davis and Granger quiet to maintain His standing in Slytherin House, Merlin knows Draco could socially "Cut him off at the knees" should he learn of such business of Marvolo's. Marvolo spent the better part of the last two years convincing Hermione he was truly interested in her, and had to bend over backwards, burn bridges, and break a good half-dozen rules to prove it. When he'd finally cornered her in a secluded classroom, he told her he was done trying to prove to her he meant well, that maybe Malfoy wasn't completely wrong about her, and that he has put more than he was willing to for her at stake and...........etc. In the end, when he'd finished, he'd gone to leave, but soon found himself subjected to Incarcerous and getting Snogged By Hermione. When they'd parted, he revealed he was testing her, wanted to see if she was willing to at last believe him, and as she did, he felt obligated to request they tell no one, else he'll lose considerable standing in Slytherin.

Naturally it got a bit out of hand, when she caught him snogging Davis in that same classroom a week later. Marvolo subsequently returned the favor and used Incarcerous on Hermione and explained his situation to her. Davis agreed to keep their secret, but warned him that he'd eventually need to choose between them. But Marvolo was veering off the track, and Returned his focus to the matters at hand.

Marvolo had elected to stay for the after party of the Quidditch World Cup Final, and was, much to some's contention, made to stay with the Weasley Party. Of course the fact Hermione was not only in his arms snogging him, but physically in his lap just served as a further reason they were so confounded.
