Chapter 8 by Shandy Shandy

Does he take pity on you? Or not?

Not really

"What are you snivelling for?" he barks at you. The harsh tone of his voice makes you sob even harder.

"I'm cold and wet....and I'm scared! And you're mad at me, and I don't know why....you don't have to yell at me! It's not my fault..."

If you expected your pitiful words to have any impact on him, you're disappointed.

"Of course it's your fault. Coming out in the semi-wilderness in bad weather dressed like that. Pretty poor planning. What were you going to do, wander in the woods until a bear found you?"

"You don't have to be so mean!" you sob, rubbing your sodden hair with a towel. "I'm a city girl, I was going to meet my friends fora camping trip and got lost. You don't have to be mean!"

He makes a disgusted noise and get up, opening one of two doors on the other side of the cabin. You hear him rummaging, then see him come out with a blanket. He tosses it beside you, shaking his head in irritation.

"Take your clothes off and wrap that around you. You can spread your clothes nearer the fire to let them dry. Don't worry, I'll go in the other room while you're undressing." He turns on his heel and leaves the room.

Controlling your sobbing, you peel your soaking clothes off, looking at the door he left through as you do it. It's closed, but you wonder if he's sneaking a look at your body as you undress. Your sleek skin is pebbled with goosebumps, and your pierced nipples are hard from the cold. You wrap the blanket around you and spread your clothes out near the fire, then sit down to wait and get warm.
