“Tiffany?” A dark haired girl absorbed in some book on my left looked up. “Can you get me my roll book from my desk?”

“Okay,” the girl said quietly, as she got up and retrieved the green note book.

“Just put it here on Mr. Doe’s desk.”

Mrs. Kunt crouched down beside me to a more comfortable level, flipped open the book with her free hand, flipped to the current page, and ran her finger down the page until she found today’s entry. She took a pencil from behind her ear, and made a mark on the page.

"Say ‘here’ and raise your hand when I call your name... Ashley?"

"Here!" said the perky voice who had suggested the term, “jerking off”.

"Casey?"

"Here..." a quiet voice from the back left corner of the room.

"Susan?"

"Here, Mrs. Kunt," a cheerful voice immediately to the right of me.
