Chapter 21 by Manbear Manbear

Does Winlay's next day go as planned?

Not even close

When Winlay woke, Mika was sitting by her feet looking at her expectantly.

"So?" She asked eagerly "How did it go with Adam yesterday?" Winlay gave her a happy smile as she remembered how incredible Adam had been.

"He's nice." She answered carefully. "You were right yesterday, he does care about me. Thank-you." She sat up and hugged Mika happily, but refused to say anything else about what happened.

"Did he kiss you?" Mika asked as Winlay rubbed the sleep from her eyes. Thankfully Winlay's hands covered the blush in her cheeks as she remembered Adams lips exploring her all over. She took a few extra seconds to get her emotions under control before she smiled innocently at her friend.

"You are as bad as Adam!" Mika exclaimed in frustration after pestering Winlay unsuccessfully for a few more minutes about what had happened in the boiler room. "He wouldn't tell me anything at all yesterday, and all you'll say is 'He's nice' you two probably sat in silence holding each other's hands." She pushed Winlay playfully and got up flashing a length of her thigh as she spun away.

Winlay looked over to where Adam had been sleeping, but he was no longer in his bed. She felt a tiny hint of disappointment that he had not taken the opportunity to wake her with a kiss. Wasn't he the first of them to wake that morning? She dismissed the thought as frivolous and helped Mika make breakfast and tidy the room while she waited for Adam to reappear.

"Well, something must have happened yesterday to put you in this good a mood." Mika said good naturedly as she listened to Winlay humming to herself as she set out the hot oatmeal and prickleberry syrup for the four of them. Mika added with low grumble "Not that I'll ever get to hear about it."

"I'm going to get Adam." Winlay told Mika, "See if the Oracle is up to eating anything." As soon as she was in the hallway she smoothed the wrinkles from her shirt feeling the linen rubbing against her bare breasts. She wore only Sister Margaret’s oversized work shirt and her panties, it was scandalously immodest, but the small apartment was just too warm to wear more clothes than was absolutely necessary. Without the binding strip firmly securing her breasts, they jiggled and swayed freely but she didn't care, both Mika and Adam had both seen her breasts completely bare.

She found Adam sitting at the table in the big boiler room studying schematic diagrams printed on several large blue sheets that were spread out on the table. Winlay noticed with amusement that the diagrams were in nearly the same exact spot that she had been spread out yesterday.

"Breakfast is ready Adam." She said softly hoping to see his smile again. Really she was hoping to have him take her in his arms again and hold her as he kissed her gently. Adam looked almost guilty as he climbed to his feet, he didn't take her in his arms, or even warm her with his glowing smile. He nodded almost coldly and told her he'd be come in a minute. Winlay backed out the door aware that something had changed, but not sure what to do about it.

Adam tried to talk to her that afternoon. He apologized for taking advantage of her, and when she tried to reassure him that he had done nothing wrong he refused to listen. It became clear to Winlay that her plan to offer herself to Adam in the shower was not going to work as she hoped. Mika had said that Adam took his Templar vows seriously Winlay was beginning to realize just how important they were to him.

The next two days were the worst days of her life. Instead of the spending time with Adam, talking to him, touching him and giving herself fully, Winlay and Adam found themselves avoiding each other. Even without knowing any of the details Mika sided with her, blaming Adam for Winlay's sudden mood change. Adam spent most of his time either at the Oracle's side or in the shower room, but not with her. A couple times she considered slipping out of her shirt and joining him in the shower, she saw the way he still looked at her and didn't imagine that he'd be able to resister her if she pressed herself against him. She couldn't do it though; instead she tried to maintain what little pride she still had.

It was a relief when Sister Margaret suddenly appeared in the small hidden suite and announced that they were going to be leaving the next day.

"You folks sure stirred up a pandorwasp nest." She announced with a grim smile.

What's the news from the Convent?
