Nope

Mild regret was your companion as the Stargazer cruised along the artificial warp channel Nexus Command had created to speed your travel to Cathris. The trip would take only a few hours this way and you could have been blissed out of your mind with something hard and buzzing inside you for most of them. But there'd be plenty of time for that going home, since the return trip would take at least ten times as long with just the Stargazer's drives.

So it's in the middle of a 'reflex boosting tactical simulator' that the final chime before warp exit sounded and you saved your place before leaping back into the cockpit. Warp channels were just a black void with the occasional colored streaks while you were flying through, but the transition back into real space was always incredibly psychedelic. Cathris didn't disappoint, your eyes widening as what seemed like hallucinogenic fireworks exploded across the viewscreen, ending in a steadily growing point of light that finally burst to reveal the coin-sized yellow disk of the system's star almost dead center.

It was almost obscured by the tangled mass of wreckage that loomed up before you, collision alerts blaring even as you yelped and yanked hard on the control stick.

"Shit shit shit shit shit!" was your constant refrain as you red-lined the engines to bleed off your exit momentum and angle yourself to miss the hunk of metal and bone before you. Your eyes darted wildly as targeting assistance software painted each chunk of debris based on danger, but it seemed a little unnecessary as you calmed down and finally noticed that nothing other than you was moving. It had all been sitting here long enough that it was in an incredibly stable orbit relative to the star.

Disaster averted, you clapped a hand over your eyes and let out a long sigh. Well, at least the easy part was done with already. You'd found somewhere to begin. Now you just needed a payday.

A quick scan showed that the debris chain extend out hundreds of thousands of kilometers in either direction, a partial ring of sorts in this sector of space. You pretty much had your pick of ships to explore, but there were a few that really caught your eye. The ship you had almost hit was actually an Argos Alpha Predator, their equivalent of a Union main-line battleship (of which there was a partially shattered one not too far away), and it looked to be mostly intact if you ignored the half dozen dagger-like Union frigates which had rammed and impaled it.

There were also some faint readings coming from another tangle of ships, but it probably wasn't anything more than a reactor core that had taken longer to decay than the others.
