Victoria turned to him. "I'm sorry?"

"You should be. Curfew is at 9 PM. It is now 9:30. As my stepdaughter, I know you don't respect my authority, but you dread being punished."

Victoria's eyes widened. "I'm so sorry, please don't punish me! I didn't mean to stay up this late!"

"I'm sorry too, Vic," John said. "Because now I have to punish you."
