Chapter 30 by NathanX NathanX

Does John tell Elaine the truth?

No.

John shakes her head, her blonde tresses bouncing around her downcast face, so that Elaine doesn't see the tears building in her eyes.

How could she tell Elaine the truth? Have Elaine realize that this... this perfect bride, this picture of femininity before her was actually the man she was supposed to marry?

"Are you okay?" Elaine asks, and at the worry in her voice John feels her own heart ache... but it also makes John all the more determined to find a way back to normal.

I am John Anderson. I am a man! And I am going to be Elaine's husband even if it kills me.

"I'm all right," John whispers, brushing away her - no, HIS - tears quickly. "I'm just... a little emotional. You know."

"Don't I know it, sister," laughs Elaine. "I'm actually kind of glad that John's playing hide and seek. I'm a mess right now."

John purses his full lips. "How so?"

Elaine steps closer and John gets another little shock - Elaine is taller than she is now! Just a by a bit, but John is in heels. How tiny had he become?

"Oh, you know," says Elaine, flinging John's words back at him. "Nerves. I'm afraid I won't be able to make him happy. I'm sure he has complaints he's not telling me. I just wish I knew how to... how to be a better wife for him."

Elaine smiles at John.

"From one bride-to-be to another, any tips?"

John had to resist the urge to hug Elaine then and there, to tell her she was perfect as she was. It would reveal who he was, and not just that... he realized this was the best opportunity he would ever get to change Elaine without making it seem like he was criticizing her. After all, he did have a few complaints...

"Well," John begins.

What does John say?
