You see Karen in the halls at school Monday. She rushes up to you and gives you a big hug. She tells you she is sorry about Saturday night, she is a little confused about love lately. She tells you she loves you and would have called you but she broke her phone Sunday arguing with Amber. The bell rings and you go to class. You try to read her thoughts as she rushes to class before the next bell, but find you can't. You are not surprised as you couldn't read thoughts yesterday either. Karen is waiting by your van after school.

She kisses you on the cheek before finishing her thoughts from earlier. She says her cousin was like a sister but right now she is dead to her. Amber told Karen how she was leading on that pathetic Bobby. Amber wants a guy with money. Amber wouldn't believe Karen was throwing herself at you and that you didn't fuck her, saying it was because you love her. Karen got so mad at Amber, she threw down the phone and broke it. You and her make out in the van before you drop her off for her shift at the Smith's grocery store.

You pick her up on her break and get her a new phone. She says that Jon Smith was telling her about having another party this weekend. He asked Karen if she and Amber would be there. When Karen told him she wasn't speaking to her cousin because Amber doesn't like her new boyfriend. (Karen speaks quickly and says she was talking about you-was that alright-she didn't tell Jon your name. You kiss her and say it is fine.) Jon seemed totally uninterested in talking to her after that. She doesn't think he wants her, like as a date. Maybe he wanted Amber at the party?

You go into the store after Karen's break and get some chips and soda. You talk to Jon as you are leaving and he tells you about the party and to bring the usual gang. You tell him you will have to leave one out as you now have a girlfriend and the van is only a four seater. (It was just two until you installed a two person seat from a wrecked pick up.) You don't think Bobby will want to go as he had a thing for Amber Murphy but she doesn't like him that way, and he may not want to party.

Jon takes the bait and says that Bobby probably should go more than Joe or Tom. Jon can pick up Tom as their Dad's are friends and Mr. Smith encourages Jon to associate with Tom more. Jon, like most people, finds Tom to be an ass more than not but has to follow his dad's wishes. Jon asks who is your girl?

You say, "That lovely redhead." You point to Karen.

"Niiiice." Is Jon's reply.
