Chapter 9
by Suckersoprano
Does he need anything else?
No.
“Just that the windows are covered before sunrise,” Dago said, “Did that man leave?”
“Do you mean Tobias? Yes, he left after you came into this room,” the woman said, moving to close the very thick curtains, “If that’s all you need, I’ll leave you be.”
She hurried out of the room and Dago opened up the potion they had given him. He wasn’t entirely sure of things, but he didn’t have much choice. Marian was still ****, so Dago did his best to avoid having him **** on the potion, it was less than a teaspoon, thankfully.
He paced and finally decided to sleep on one of the chairs for a few hours, but soon, he heard some rustling. He shook sleep off and sat up, noticing that Marian was waking back up. Dago moved over to the bed to check on him, immensely grateful that he hadn’t died through the process of bringing him here. Marian was feeling around for his glasses, but they were still in a thousand pieces somewhere in New York.
“They’re broken, I’m sorry,” Dago said, making Marian sit up straight in bed.
Dago heard Marian mutter a swear under his breath, “Where are we?” he asked finally.
“I don’t really know. I found you about to be attacked in an alleyway, something exploded, and after I tried to help you, and for some reason, we got teleported here, but fuck if I know where that is,” Dago explained with a frown.
“Where’s my phone?” Marian said with a frown.
“Your guess is as good as mine,” Dago said helplessly, “I don’t know where mine is either, or my portal tag.”
“Shit shit shit,” Marian said, running his hands through his hair, “I don’t even have my watch,” Marian rubbed his temples for a moment, “How did we get here, then?”
Dago frowned, “Other than I carried you…, We happened upon Tobias.”
Marian frowned; he didn’t like the odds of his dumb luck right now. He tried to gaze at his hands, but they were blurry. He started to feel strange.
“What else happened?” he said, trying to figure out why his hands appeared to be swelling. He wasn’t that blind.
“They gave you a potion, to prevent the need for a blood transfusion. They said it would speed up blood production, but it might have been too much, do you want me to… uh…?” Dago asked, figuring the best course of action was simply to drain what was unnecessary himself.
His hands were starting to hurt, Marian realized, “Yes, do it quickly please.”
Dago moved over to Marian’s bed and wondered exactly how much blood this was producing for Marian. He was walking a fine line here, if he took too little, Marian would end up swelling all over, but too much could make him more anemic than he already could be…
Does he drink too much blood or too little?
