Chapter 3

Who is John picking up for?
No one. He is delivering.
"Actually, Petra, I am here to deliver a message from the Magick Council."
Petra paled visibly as she realized she had been caught. The look was brief and would ordinarily not be noticed. While John did not see the momentary look of horror on her face, he knew she must have reacted. He had turned away to look at something in a corner of the shop and so did not have the chance to actually see her face, but he was smart enough to know his "news" would draw a reaction from the enchantress. He also knew he would need to be on his toes as she was well-known in the magical community as quite slippery when cornered. When he heard nothing from her, he turned around. He had expected her to be fuming mad, pissed off, or something. What he found instead was she was...gone.
Not that she was running away. Rather she was literally just gone...as in not there. There was no sign she had ever been there to begin with. John knew quite well the subtleties of a disappearance spell when he saw one. This was something more blatant. The crazy witch had used a time shift spell to shift herself out of the room. Sighing deeply, John began to track the crazy witch to her current location. As he moved through the large store, the merchandise began to try to stop him from finding their creator. The Protection Sigil and the Crest of Cupid protected him from the vagaries of the low-level spells the dresses and other items had been infused with. John chuckled to himself slightly as the various spells bounced off his protection wards. Each attack made him that much more determined to catch this insane enchantress. She was making the magical world look bad and it was his job to bring her in.
He soon came to a door. The magick radiating from it was palpable. It almost felt like there was some sort of hidden magick on the door. Touching it gently, he could feel some of his protection magicks being burned away. The pain of being stripped of his protection **** his hand away like he had reached into a fire. Screaming in rage, he kicked the door open. However, that was a big mistake as what he saw on the other side almost made him wish he hadn't taken this assignment.
What does he see on the other side of the door?
