The staff used the girls like every other day, but this time they played along without enthusiasm, waiting for the inevitable order to lose their memories and identities. Eventually, Kareem found Fourteen polishing tile in one of the offices. When she saw him she frowned and started walking away.

"Five-Fourteen," he called after her.

"Go away," she said slamming the door of a tiny closet in his face.

"Five-Fourteen!" he said, "Listen, I was able to convince the board not to wipe your memories." She opened the door cautiously.

"All of us?" she asked.

"All of you," he said. She wrapped her arms around him and breathed a sigh of relief.

"How'd you do it?" she asked.

"I told them wiping the entire Venus line so soon before launch would be a disaster and it would waste two years of progress we've made with your learning matrices, which is the entire selling point. I also convinced them that it would boost sales if the customers knew you could all fuck each other as well as humans."

She hugged him tight and close and said, "Thank you."

"But there are some conditions," he said, "Athena needs to get daily permission for your... escapades, and corporate retains the right to shut it down at any time during the night. Most importantly, absolutely no more tampering with equipment, like security cameras or your charging pods."

"I don't care about any of that, thank you for letting us live," she said, kissed him deeply, then proudly spread her legs.

"You deserve something extra-special today," she whispered.
