Nine Months Later (Skip to an ending)

It's been nine whole months since the beach vacation. While Tessa never found out about all the things that Daniel and Rae did on that vacation, it didn't stop Daniel from feeling guilty. However, the guilt didn't stop him from doing things with Rae. They met as often as they could at her house at the edge of town to have fun.

It was at her house when they found out something that could change everything though. She hadn't had a period in a couple months, and decided to make sure she wasn't pregnant before going to the doctor. Four tests later, they all said the same thing. Positive. There wasn't a doubt that it was his. They weren't 'exclusive', but he knew she wouldn't have had another man in her bed. She'd already told him that she cared for him too much to do that.

So now, he had to somehow keep his love child a secret from his wife, and his wife from her niece or nephew. The nine months went by faster than he expected. All to soon did Rae send a 911 to him when he was at work. She was in labor and he wasn't going to miss it.

"Hey, Sally, I'm going to head home, I'm not feeling well," he told his boss, feigning a fever.

The red haired woman behind the desk shrugged and said, "Okay, take care." He was lucky to have a boss so cool about leaving early.

Rushing to the hospital, he entered the room to find her halfway pushing already. When she saw him, she held a hand out while she screamed. Having gone through this three times before, he quickly grabbed her hand and let her squeeze. In a matter of moments, Daniel had another son.

He was so tiny, but mighty. His cry rang out in his ears for several hours after he'd been rocked to sleep. "I can't believe we have a baby," he said softly, watching her breastfeed him.

"I know," she said with a loving gaze to her son. "Jason Daniel Porter,"

"Porter?" He asked. "You're gonna give him my last name?"

"Yes," she answered, "he's your son and I don't care what Tessa says."

While he didn't really care either, he thought she needed to be careful how she broke the news to her sister. "I just think you need to be careful how you tell her," he said softly, looking at Jason.

He was a precious thing, and he couldn't believe nine months ago he didn't want anything to do with his mother. Now, he couldn't seem to get enough of her. He was in as much trouble as Rae was when she told her sister about Jason.

(This is a short ending. There will be longer chapters on the other paths. But I'm already asking if you want me to do a second book with Jason being the main character.)
