Toothless rose to his feet and gently nudged at his master’s hand like a cat vying for attention. “Sorry, Bud. It’s kind of a human thing only,” Hiccup replied, causing Toothless ears droop in sadness.

“Don’t worry, Toothless. We’ll be back before you know it,” I consoled, giving him a scritch under the chin. “You can stay with Sithis and keep him company in the meantime.” The Night Fury threw a glance at the Boneknapper, who was adorably trying to catch a passing butterfly between his teeth. Not a care in the world.

Toothless snorted and focused his big, green eyes back on me. “Don’t worry. He doesn’t bite,” I smiled. “Promise.” Toothless seemed satisfied with that, settling to sit with a obedient huff.

“C’mon, it’s this way,” Hiccup pointed, taking my hand into his and leading me towards the tree line.
