Newly crowned Queen of Mereen

The liberation of Meereen had been long and arduous, but had been, Dany thought to herself, a success.

Minimal losses, and the city had been taken overnight.

Now came the difficult task. Governing and solidifying her rule.

In her new throne room, sparsely decorated, having burnt the previous occupants extravagances, she sat on a throne of black stone and black wood. It was uncomfortable and jarring.

At the foot of the gentle slope that lead up to the throne stood Grey Worm and Barristan. Before them stood a merchant - not unattractive, Dany thought to herself with a sly smirk - and a group of Slavers from the Summer Isles, their skin blacker than coal. Their mere presence cut Dany deeply. Slavers - in her throne room. She was half-tempted to have Grey Worm kill them where they stood.

But that would be interrupting their argument.

In Dany's quick and concise liberation of the city, it seemed that her immediate restructing of Meereenese society had put both parties out. The Merchant Guild that Odo represented, and the Slavers of Arqthy, had substantial capital across Essos and beyond, and the routes they plied, from whatever illicit trade they undertook, were established and safe.

Both supplicant parties desired the favour of the new ruler of Meereen, and had entreated Dany in becoming vassals. They were openly stating that they would immediately stop all illicit trade of goods and peoples in Essos and their other ports of harbour (although Dany realised that the latter was likely bald-faced lies) in return for being designated a Royal Commissary Company within the Targaryen Navy. Their new duties to be the oversight of ferrying and procurement, trade and import-export of goods throughout the world.

It seemed, however, that Dany had underestimated one key thing.

A Meereenese tradition.

Odo, the Merchant with a thin goatee and immaculately dressed, raised a hand to the Slavers and turned to face the Queen. Grey Worm tensed.

"Your Radiant Highness, you must forgive us. This is quite unusual. Our usual methods of negotiations were a little more... relaxed... and having your..." he cast a disapproving look at the Unsullied before him, and then at the tall, cowing figure of Selmy in his Queen's Guard attire before continuing, "loyal guardians here between us, let alone with out the usual entertainment, has us on edge."

Entertainment? Dany thinks to herself.

"What kind of entertainment could you have been provided with at a royal supplication, Odo? You are here to entreat me. You are here to ask me to allow you to continue trading. To continue amassing wealth beyond what nearly every other citizen in Meereen will ever see, let alone experience, and you wish more of my hospitality? Was the previous ruler soft in the head?"

You can see the chuckle escape Selmy - his broad shoulders rise and fall swiftly.

The Merchant and Slavers glance towards the Queens Guard, both visibly worried by his presence.

"Your Glorious Highness, these are traditions dating back thousands of years since the dawn of civilised society in Essos. We hold to them tightly. You take our trade and auction it off how you like, as is your royal wont, but please, allow us these small measures of hospitality."

Dany pauses to think for a few seconds before responding, "I will hear you out. What is this entertainment you speak of?"

Odo gulps, and the Summer Islanders share a look amongst themselves.

"Typically, we would conduct business naked, with the King, whilst the Queen attended us with refreshments."
