New Revelations

I got Ginia's cell number, we kissed, hugged, and I left. She was eager to get to Liz before her melt down made her do something she would regret later, She also said she wanted to know whether Devon had tried to coerce Liz with his recording. Ginia by herself was going to be a better than equal adversary for Devon, that was fine, I'd handle the other side, the not so subtle side.

I got to my office and formulated a text that I wanted to send to my daughter, something she could think about, go over if she wanted and multi-reply to if she needed, we'd done it before with subject problems she had had and it worked well, I'd grown up around the fundamentals of problem solving, communication with set focus, and functionality in decision making and as the young are apt to do, Leigh had picked it up and ran with it, Leigh, Str8 up hon, tings not the best wit mum n me. Spect U know – dnt ned 2 say ok. I'm workn on result, dnt no wot that is at mo. wil let u no in time. Heds up – mum wan sitdwn wit U 2nite, ok, bout smorning, play it as yo see it. luv u dad.

'Ting', geez that was quick.

Dad, k, understand all. bitch. U decide wot u decide – me hapy wit ur take, k. Me i no luv her for awile. she haf 2 put up wit dat. 2nite - game on. stay strong dad. luvs L.

'GAME ON'. Where did that come from? Fuck, did she put a bug in my clothes.

There was one other person I felt needed to get a 'heads up' on what was going on, a just in case, because I didn't want him to be blindsided if Liz turned up on his doorstep more than likely in tears, I had to go and see Randolph Parker. It wasn't something I was happy to do at all, but I figured that he didn't need to have the whole story presented to him, we could settle with a story around Liz and I needing some space and an amicable seperation in the interim. I think he'd wear that without too much of a hassle. And as it turned out I was right. What came as a surprise was he asked me what part his wife had played in the seperation? I had no idea what he was talking about and it appeared mother-in-law may well have been launching her own little break-up-the-happy-couple campaign, or at least not dismissing Liz's worries or thoughts and pushing her back in my direction. Randolph apologised profusely about what maybe going on between his wife and daughter and said he'd wished he'd been more proactive in admonishing his wife over what he'd heard her talking to Liz about, he said he would definitely correct that situation starting tonight, “Okay, Sir, bit please don't jeopardize your relationship. If we are meant to get through this Sir, we will. Are you though comfortable with telling me your suspicions about their talks?”

“Yes, I can tell you Mike, that in the two cases I heard them talking about Liz's freedoms, to get out, meet people and have a good time, not to be stifled sitting at home all the time was the way my wife was explaining it. Well I was not happy and I thought I made myself clear after the first time. When I overheard her the second time I didn't even let her disconnect, I laid into her and told her if she didn't I'd bring you into the equation, as I knew that everything they were talking about was behind your back. The talk tonight that I'm going to have is going to be very one-sided and she is going to be made aware if you and Liz break apart I'M going to make her responsible for it. You don't deserve this Mike, nor does my granddaughter. You take care of business as you see fit, Mike.”

I left after that, we'd never hugged before, but he did without hesitating, I guess he knew what we all would lose and over a period of just under 20 years we had all been very close in our relationship's with each other, now it could all be done with and the personal loss would be big. I doubted that Liz's mother would sense the same loss though.

On my walk back to my office a text came in.

From Ginia, Those muthaf_ _kas are goin down! wot a bunch of aholes. Sorry, Hi, holdin up? Hang in there, L&me doin lunch, LOTS of talk, and lots to talk about, let u know when debrief, in loo's gotta go, luv ya Ginny, lol.

I replied, Ginny!!,REALLY!

'ting.' Ba-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha.

Replied, Bitch, U'll pay.

God I'd missed this, what we had, there weren't a lot of cellphones back then but we'd fool around with faxes and end up sending each other little quips, jokes during the day, I'd never missed that until right now.

I had a lecture and needed to go over course notes with one of my associates, really he knew what he was doing just needed encouragement to know he was going in the right direction. So it was mid afternoon when I'd finished up, research thesis were due in tomorrow so it was reviews and early marking, yeah I know but in the words of that great American Philosopher, Popeye, 'I yam wots I yam', and it wasn't always this easy.

'Ting.' We meet afta work. Debrief at mine. Then 2nite we need to go to Nightmoves. See u soon Luv Ginia.
