Chapter 13 by Cheddr Bob Cheddr Bob

Who wins? Naruto or Fox?

Neither

However, while Naruto was having this internal battle, he didn’t notice that he and Hinata were being watched. As Hinata broke off, her eyes wide and filled with fear, Naruto turned to see what had stopped their fun. When he saw it, he felt as if a stone fell into his stomach. Iruka was standing behind them, fury in his face.

“I hate to ruin this intimate moment, but I thought I’d remind you that you were supposed to return at 1 o’clock sharp! Now get moving before I change my mind about your team assignments. GO!”

And so, Hinata and Naruto dashed back to the academy, both very red in the face…

Sasuke was standing in the classroom waiting for not only his jonin leader, but his teammates as well. He couldn’t believe how terrible his luck was. First, there was that loser Naruto who barely passed the graduation exam. He was always bugging everyone and never did as he was told. Then, there was Hinata. Sasuke didn’t really have a problem with her, but she always seemed depressed and worthless. But, then again, anyone Sasuke got teamed up with would have been terrible. He didn’t need a team, he could do any mission by himself.

Naruto and Hinata burst into the classroom, both out of breath and very red faced. Naruto looked around, obviously looking for the jonin and then landed his glare on Sasuke. “Where is he?” was Naruto’s greeting.

“No idea,” Sasuke responded.

“Wait, we got yelled at for being late and the jonin isn’t even here yet?!”

“Funny world isn’t it. Now just sit down and shut up.”

Naruto scowled at Sasuke, took Hinata by the hand, and sat down, Hinata taking the seat next to him. Sasuke looked at the pair of them, wondering in the back of his head why the two of them had been late…

Kakashi eventually got to the class. After a small introduction and explanation about the survival exercise, Naruto and Hinata left and walked down to the Hyuga part of town.

Naruto was the first to speak. “A survival exercise, eh? Sounds fun! What do you think, Hinata-chan?”

“I don’t know,” Hinata said, holding onto Naruto’s hand more tightly. “Kakashi-sensei looks pretty tough. Also, if we have to fight each other…” She looked up into the cerulean eyes. “I don’t want to have to fight you, Naruto-kun.”

“Me either.” Naruto said, squeezing Hinata’s hand. “How about this, if we have to fight, I’ll surrender and you win.”

“Really?”

“For you, anything.”

And to prove his devotion to her, he lend down and kissed her. Even though it was short, it was still filled with love and passion.

“Well,” Hinata said after they broke apart, “this one is my house. I’d better go inside before my parents worry.”

Naruto murmured something like “Alright,” but stopped in mid sentence when he looked behind Hinata. The thing she called “my house” would have been better described as a mansion. A 20-foot wall surrounded the feudal style castle. The main building was as big as Naruto’s entire apartment building, and had several small buildings connected to it. Naruto looked at the castle, then looked at Hinata, jaw hanging open. When he eventually got his voice back, he nearly shouted, “THAT is your house?”

Hinata giggled and said, “I know, it’s a bit much. But the Hyuga is the largest clan in the village, and I am the heiress, so…”

Naruto knew all this, but for some reason it never occurred to him that Hinata’s family was wealthy enough to own a castle.

“Uh, Naruto-kun… I’d better go…”

Hinata’s voice snapped Naruto back to the present. After another quick kiss, Hinata went inside the mansion while Naruto headed for his apartment. When he got home, Naruto got to work practicing for the exercise tomorrow. Even if he was going to forfeit to Hinata, he still needed to hone his skill for his fight with Kakashi and Sasuke. While fighting a stuffed Kakashi doll, Naruto heard a knock on the door.

Who's at the door?
