Chapter 52 by ackdam

Where to now?

Naruto needs a break.

Closing the door, Naruto could feel himself a little sore in certain areas. Remembering what Sakura said he decided he should rest a little before anything else. He started to head for his room, but remembered the guests he had there and didn't want to wake them as he knew they would need to rest for quite awhile after the workout they got. Instead he headed out the back of his home and realized just how busy he had been inside when he walked right into an outdoor hot spring. As he quickly decided a short bath would more then cover his prescription for rest he made a mental note to ask how they managed to get a hot spring here. He knew Konoha back to from all the chases he ran through it and around it, but couldn't recall and hot springs in this area. That thought was put out of his head quickly as he waded into the warm water. He could only think of the perfect temperature as he settled into the spring as began to soak his muscles in its soothing waters.

Not wanting to spend too much time in the water he scrambled out after about 20 minutes and went back inside to the den where he sat in one of the chairs and closed his eyes for a few minutes. Too soon he realized that sleep wasn't something that was going to come to him right now, as he was no where near tired, so he simply got up and began to walk to the last of his wives that he had already taken into his bed.

Outside Hinata's door he began to feel a little nervous, but he wasn't quite sure why. The girl inside had had a crush on him for years, not the other way around. Shouldn't he be calm and fine now? Gathering himself he knocked on the door in front of him. No answer. He knocked again a little louder while calling out to her this time…still no answer. "Maybe she went to sleep. I'll just slip in and kiss her goodnight then." Softly as to not wake Hinata up he slowly opened the door and peeked inside. There was no light on, but he could clearly see that there was no one in the bed. Taking a quick look around the room he could see that there was no one in the room at all. Worried that she might be in trouble he decided to go look for Hinata. After all he didn't want to see any of his wives in trouble.

He doubted she would be in any of the other girls' room. She would have been far too shy to risk waking, or more likely, interrupting any of them. Instead he began checking all the main rooms. Not in the Den, or the Kitchen. No one in the main lobby and the bathrooms are unoccupied. Study, pantry, bath, training area; no, no, no and no. Feeling a bit frustrated and scared he decided to check outside. She wasn't in the front of the house or around the side. Around the back of the house was a massive garden he had yet to explore. "Maybe she decided to go for a walk?"

Luckily there was a full moon out tonight and it was rather easy to discern the paths of the garden as he traveled its winding trails. Yamato definitely went all out here. The garden was gorgeous with all manner of flowers, bushes and trees. There seemed to be many areas sectioned off with thick, high shrubs. Naruto could only think of how fun it would be to have played amongst the bushes when he was little. Soon he would be able to see just how much joy it could bring when his own children were running these trails. Maybe he would be able to join them sometimes. That would be nice.

Coming to a fairly wide open area Naruto looked around a bit. This area seemed to be one of the sectioned off 'room', but on a much larger scale. He guessed it must be for hosting outdoor parties, though at the moment there was no time for those. The grass here was soft and springy, almost like a feather bed and it was difficult for Naruto to fight the urge to lie down and roll around in it.

Then, his eyes spotted something that made his breath catch, and his heart leap into his throat. There, sitting on the edge of the fountain in the center was a beautiful angel, almost glowing in the moonlight. She wore only a light robe and was absentmindedly twirling her finger on the surface of the water. Naruto was instantly reminded of a time when he was on a mission and saw a nymph twirling around on the surface of the water at the base of a small waterfall. She had scared that one away, and was determined not to make the same mistake twice.

Can he catch the angel?
