Naomi left school that afternoon with a smile on her face. It was a sunny day, she'd thoroughly enjoyed her last class and she had Bible Study tonight which she always enjoyed. She loved delving into the word of God with her friends. They ate food together too, which was always nice.
As she drove home, Naomi had the odd compulsion to go to the mall. She felt like she had to update her wardrobe. Her wardrobe full of pantsuits suddenly felt dull and boring. She should spice things up a bit. Maybe a skirt, it couldn't hurt to show a bit of leg.
Before too long, Naomi was clutching half a dozen bags of new clothes. She'd bought several pleated leather skirts, t-shirts and tank-tops, most of them featuring the logo of some heavy-metal band or another. She had bags of new shoes, mostly leather boots, all of them high-heeled. Acting on some strange compulsion, she got a tongue-piercing from one of the businesses in the mall. She found a store stocking goth and emo clothing and purchased several studded and spiked chokers. She changed into her new purchases and examined herself in the changing-room mirror. She was a completely different person. Her transformation wasn't done yet, however. She stopped at the salon and had them cut her hair short, so it framed her face, and put a streak of blue dye in it.
"Hey, Naomi." She turned, looking for the person who had called out. Nate, was sitting in the food-court casually munching on a soft pretzel, examining Naomi.
"Oh, hey Nate." She said breathily, trying to hide the anxiety she felt about her sudden change in behaviour and fashion sense.
