Chapter 11 by Gryma.sss Gryma.sss

What do you see?

Mr Alexander talks with a client

"Ah, Minerva, you're finally here. Mr. Fink, this is Minerva Rivers, she was supposed to be be in charge of your campaign. Minerva, this is mr. Fink, CEO of Catalunya Closet, our new client." You shiver. Have you just blown your big chance because of this damned taxi?

You take a look at the short, balding man. He's well dressed and makes sure a massive Rolex on his hand is there to emphasize his status further. There's something... Sleezy about him. You exchange a handshake and you feel him taking a good look of you. Finally he looks into your eyes and you can't withstand his gaze, you look down, your cheeks red with embarrassment.

"Well, punctuality is an important trait, Harold..." He says. "But this time we can let it slide. If miss Rivers is hal as good as you say, working with her will be pleasure." He smiles like a predator. "She certainly seems to be a good girl... he emphasized that last part. "...and I think she deserves a chance to prove it." You feel your mouth dry for some reason and you wonder what is his definition of a "good girl"... Luckily, you need to quickly focus on a discussion which turned to the aims and character of campaign.

Apparently, Catalunya Closet is a brand of lingerie that recently broaden its offer to include... Other appliances and gadgets, mostly for women. While competing quite successfully for the usual target groups, Mr Fink wants to expand his client base to modern yuppies - women too busy doing career to care about their looks. The CC aims at providing them with lingerie and other products better suited for their lifestyle, allowing them to feel sexy... If not naughty (Mr Fink grins briefly as he says that), while maintaining a professional look.

Normally you'd be more than happy to work on the campaign that you're basically a target group of, but this... You're sure that next to none woman of your standing or similar would be interested in Mr Fink's products. And you're certain that quite a few, yourself included, would be offended by the sheer idea.

Still, it's not your place to criticize the client's strategy. Your job is merely to sell it the best you can. You meticulously write down in points the client's wishes and suggestions. You need to accept that as a man, he knows better how to run things and what his company needs. Wait, as a man? You clearly meant as an owner. You take meticulous notes from the meeting, as you know how much depends on his satisfaction now.

Finally, meeting is concluded... It seemed to drag on forever. Before leaving Mr Fink promised to have the samples of his products delivered to your team by the end of the day and suggested that you two should have a meeting in a few days to discuss early ideas. You wasn't sure it's necessary, but you agreed to everything. When he leaves mr Alexander gestures you to stay a while longer.

"Minerva, I thought you understood how important this client is not only for the company, but also to your career. I trust you have a good explanation for why have you been late?" He asks.
