Mr. Freeze arrives at Wayne Manor.
It had taken her a few minutes to get cleaned and dressed to join Mr. Freeze, the two sharing a car offered by the Penguin as they made their way to Wayne Manor, during that time Vicky kept a wide berth from the man sitting opposite from her in the limousine. He seemed… Unnerving, everything about him threw her off; his cold demeanor, his stern expressionless face with those ruby goggles, he never once looked out the window or even gave her a glancing look, not even to appraise her on her golden blonde hair or the glistening platinum dress and shoes she wore. He almost seemed more a frozen corpse than anything else… Until he spoke with that voice box built in his suite. “You are curious of why I chose you to come with me.” It wasn’t a question, there was no inflection to the voice, only cold statement.
“My master is humouring your request; I figured its because you think I’m the easiest to deal with if you decide to cross him.” Leaning forward she let her eyes glow blood red briefly, her fangs growing to points. “I wouldn’t have made that mistake myself.”
“There was no mistake.” No expression, no sign of fear or anxiety, oh yes, everything about him unnerved her. “We are here.” Pulling up to the front gates of Wayne Manor, the driver shakenly leapt out of the driver seat and opened the door for the two passengers, allowing Miss Vale to step out first and breath in the night air, right before Mr. Freeze stepped out with a lurch of the vehicle, his mass heavier than was let on. “H-here we are maam, Mr. Freeze.” Said the driver, slowly stepping back to the driver seat and locking the door behind him. Looking back at the scared man, he gripped the steering wheel like it was a life preserver. “Good boy… So, what did you have planned Freeze? Just knock on the…”
A sharp whine filled the air as frost suddenly caked over the gravel earth and up the side of the car, aiming his new wrist mounted freeze guns, a beam of intense cold sprayed against the double wooden doors of the mansion’s entrance. The wood cracking under the intense drop in temperature before it was blasted out, spraying a rush of cold air that instantly made the moisture in the night air turn to snow flakes. Marching slowly up the steps of the mansion, Mr. Freeze cross the door frame and entered the mansion hallway. Slowly making his way through the wide dark space, his heavy cleated boots dug deeply into the frost that caked over the space his freeze rays struck.
A single gunshot rung through the large space, the bullet pinging off Mr. Freeze’s metallic shoulder. Slowly looking up at the source, he could make out the Red Hood glaring down at him from the second-floor rafters with a pair of pistols. “You came into the wrong fucking house pal.” Opening fire, the bullets pinged off the metal suit and glass dome, sparking off his suit harmlessly. Twisting a control at his wrist, Mr. Freeze aimed his freeze rays at the pillars holding the rafters up. Along with intense cold, the pressure was increased ten-fold, blasting the pillars to rubble and filling the space with frost and ice. Within seconds the entire rafter had come down and the Red Hood had mere seconds to dive out of the way before he fell into a pit of razor-sharp stalagmites of ice. As soon as he regained his footing, he gave Mr. Freeze a surprise when he suddenly transformed, swelling larger and bulking up with muscle, his hands and feet turned to claws and black fur and hair spread down his entire body until he sprouted a shaggy tail and his face turned to that of a wolf. With a growl, the now 10 feet tall werewolf growled and lunged for Mr. Freeze, murder in his eyes that were frozen in place when he was struck head on by the freeze ray and pinned against the far wall, frozen solid.
With that, Mr. Freeze could hear growls and snarls in the distance, his presence was finally noticed and apparently the mansion wasn’t as empty as it originally appeared. More than a dozen wolves suddenly came out of the darkness, all of them giving the cold man murderous glares and barely restrained rage. Taping a single button at the front of his suit, Victor increased the volume to his voice box. “Bring me Bruce Wayne, and I will leave.”
“That’s alright ass-hole, we don’t WANT any ice-cream today!” Called the white wolfess at the front of the pack
She and another wolfess ran down the central stair case and lunged for him, Harley was pinned back against the wall frozen in place while the other finally found purchase and clamped her jaws around his shoulder, her eyes going wide when the she-wolf’s flesh and fur sizzled and burned from the silver chrome finish of his suit. Grabbing the massive brown wolfess by her throat and causing her to whine and yelp in pain, Freeze aimed his freeze rays against the opposite balcony and stairs, firing an arc of intense cold that forced the other wolves to back off or be frozen solid. “Where is Bruce Wayne?” Dropping the wolfess onto the ground, Freeze reset the switch to his freeze rays and aimed at the wolf’s feet. Creating a slowly freezing beam of cold, Victor caused ice to form and slowly encase the wolfess in solid ice, slowly making his way up her legs, then to her waist. “Where is Bruce Wayne? Where is your Alpha?”
He barely had the time to react to a force that literally burst out of the wall to his left, flying towards him with the speed and force of a cannon ball and taking him with it through the other wall, careening through another wall and furniture to land heavily on his back against the corner of a room, carpet and wood panels split and cracked from the impact. Getting to his feet, Victor Freeze found himself staring up at what could best be described as a gold furred abomination! Easily twice the size any of the wolves he dealt with so far, she… And it WAS a she, gripped at the carpet with four forepaws with sharp claws and a lupine snarl with long horns that joined a line of rattling spines jutting down her back to her reptilian-like furry tail. “YOU’RE NOT ALLOWED HERE, GET OUT!”
A hiss of cold air escaped a vent in Victor’s suit, rebalancing the air pressure now that he managed to settle back on his feet. “No one welcomes a cold draft in their house, but winter is here.” Raising both his arms, Freeze blasted the entire living room with intense cold, the walls began to cake over with frost, the potted plants that had survived the impact instantly wilted and crumbled from the sudden sub-zero temperatures. But the krypto-wolf stood firm, snarling back at Mr. Freeze, her eyes glowing bright red before a beam of intense heat cut through the beam of cold and carved through Victor’s shoulder, allowing intense cold to vent out of the rupture.
For the first time since his arrival, Victor showed emotion, screaming in pain and clutch at his damaged suit to stemmy the loss of cold air in his suit. With impossible speed, Power Girl lunged for Victor Freeze, sending him through another wall and collide into a fireplace, pinning him there and gripping his arms and legs with all four of her claws. A metallic groan filled the room as Victor knew he was slowly being pulled limb from limb, but then the tension ebbed, the sound replaced with the sizzling sound of scorched flesh and fur. Collapsing to the ground and using his wrist freeze ray to seal the rupture in his suit, Victor found the massive she-beast stagger back and look more and more flushed, her claws stuck in a form of heat rigor that refused to heal. Taking a step forward, he found Power Girl gasp and stumble back to avoid him. It wasn’t just touching his silver chrome suit that was painful, being NEAR him was painful!
“Do you know why silver is considered toxic to lycanthropes?” Asked Victor Freeze, his monotone voice betraying what pain or damage he suffered mere seconds earlier as he marched towards the Krypto-wolf, forcing her into a corner. “Silver is the most conductive metal in the periodic table, even more so than copper, but it also has the lowest melting point, allowing impurities to rise out easily from its slag, therefore it is one of the few precious metals to ever come close to being 100% pure.” Raising a fist towards the whimpering creature and setting his freeze ray to its maximum output, Victor’s face showed nothing; no hatred, no doubt or pity. “A spike of purity to kill the impure beast within.”
A bellowing roar loud enough to shake the frost painted windows filled the room just as a large black wolf barged through the hole in the wall and grabbed hold of Victor, pulling him up in the air and having the beam of cold fire off into the ceiling where it carved its way up and out into the roof to form a spike of ice ten feet tall. Hoisted off his feet and despite the scorching pain of it all, Bruce hurled Victor through the hole and back out into the main hallway, only to be struck again and forced through the other end of the mansion where Power Girl made her first strike. Pinned against the carpeted floor of a library with a hulking black werewolf on top of him, Bruce ignored the silver burns, raking his claws over Victors suit and clasping his fanged jaws around Mr. Freeze’s plexiglass dome, even though it was built to withstand intense thermal shock and even bullets, the surface cracked under the vice-like pressure.
With a pain-filled howl, Bruce threw back and clutched at the spike of ice that pierced through his shoulder and out his back, the cold so intense his blood froze instantly over the wound. With an opening, Freeze blasted him again, a second spike of ice pierced through his stomach and the force sent him back against the wall, panting and whimpering in agony. Slowly getting back up, his suit groaning in protest and hissing cold air through cracks in his dome and joints, Freeze’s breathing hitched. Stomping towards the wounded werewolf, Victor suddenly stopped when his feet were caught in vines, rapidly growing and winding around his suit, enveloping him on the spot. Slowly turning his attention to the hole in the wall, he found himself face to face with a red furred wolfess with glowing green eyes. “You are not allowed here Victor Freeze, I command the wilds and nature within this house, the dead are not welcomed among the living.” Her voice seemed otherworldly filing his mind as well as his ears, but he did not flinch. Setting the dial on his glove, Freeze fired his freezing rays down and filled the room with intense cold, frost and ice swallowing up the vines and bleeding out into the floor where frost and ice formed and spread further.
“No matter how fragrant the spring, hot the summer or bountiful the autumn, all life wilts in winter.” Increasing in intensity, the cold finally crept its way towards Aloe Vera, forcing her to gasp and break her concentration, clutching herself and her belly defensively as the intense cold killed the blooming flowers in her hair and turned her grew with cold shock. Shivering, she scurried towards Bruce, trying her best to guard him from Mr. Freeze. Easily breaking the frozen vines that held him in place, he stomped towards the couple, his pace patient and mechanical.
“Please… Don’t kill him! He’s all that matters to me.” Slowly shoving the shivering wolfess out of the way, where the cold still bit into her slowly healing flesh, Victor grabbed Bruce by the scruff of his neck and dragged him out of the room, marching his way out the hole through each room, his heavy foot steps could be heard through the entire mansion. When he made his way to the grand hallway and towards the entrance, he spotted the smiling Vicky Vale just at the entrance of the mansion, applauding the sight of the battered Mr. Freeze dragging the ton and a half black wolf behind him.
“Bravo Victor, now kill him.”
Swinging the whimpering wolf around to lay in front of him, Freeze set his freezing ray to maximum and pointed it towards Bruce’s panting face.
“YES! That’s right, leave nothing but bone behind so my master can hang his skull over his fire place, do it, DO IT!” Smiling wickedly, Vicky’s eyes glowed red from her blood lust, her fangs visible behind her ruby lips. “And when your done with him kill each and every last one of those fucking animals, I want to hear them scream by the time the night’s over!”
Looking up at the craven vampires and down at the prone beast in his grasp, Victor deactivated his freeze ray and stomped towards the remains of the door, Bruce, barely conscious through the pain, was baffled why he was still alive. “I’ve seen enough, I am leaving.”
“What? WHAT THE FUCK DO YOU THINK YOU’RE DOING?! That wasn’t part of the god damn script!” Seeing him march past her as if she were nothing to be concerned of, Vicky grew even more furious. “Your dead! Do you hear me? NO ONE BETRAYS THE MASTER; Now get back in there and finish the fucking job!”
Turning to face her with his unreadable stoicism, Victor pointed back towards the prone wolf. “Do it yourself.”
Glaring back at the man and back to Bruce Wayne, Vicky stood impotent with rage, knowing full well she still couldn’t enter the building without first being invited.
“I see… You wish me punished? Then send me back to your master, so he can do so personally.” Turning back towards the limousine, Victor ignored the blood curdling roar from the vampiress before she too joined him in the car and drove off. Minutes later, Aloe Vera and Power girl joined to find Bruce a mere foot from the ruins of the front door, licking his face and grateful he was still alive, his wounds already healing as the intense cold ebbed away.
“What happened? Why did he stop?”
“I… I don’t know…”
