Chapter 9 by Omega98 Omega98

Okay. Now we get to meet the rest of Hunter's family right?

Mostly

The mansion was three levels. The ground floor was the principle living area with: kitchen, pantry, dining room, primary living room, solarium, atrium, sitting room, music room, and several bedrooms, including the master. The downstairs was more the activity area and housed: the theater room, gymnasium, nursery, secondary living room, kid's playroom, laundry room, game room, bar, and several more bedrooms. The second level contained work offices, a second sitting room, an overhead walkway to the garage, and again several bedrooms. Hunter found most of his family in the primary living room watching sports highlights on the TV.

Both of his parents had three siblings. His mother, Denise, had a younger sister, Jenny, who was married to Lucas Hargrave, a man in his late thirties whom Hunter got along with quite well. The pair had four children; the eldest, Tyler, was Hunter's age and like Hunter did not receive The Gift. The pair had grown up quite close, and Hunter considered his cousin to be his best friend. After Tyler, Lucas and Jenny had twins: Katherine "Kitty" and Candice "Candy" Hargrave. They were both energetic high school graduates who, from what Hunter gathered, had become very independent much to their parent's chagrin. Finally from that branch was Michael, an adorable five year old boy.

Denise also had a younger brother, Terry, who married Hunter's father's youngest sister Rachel. Neither Rachel nor Terry were magically inclined which was something that Hunter had bonded with them over. Still, the couple had produced four offspring; three of which, to date, had proven magically inclined. Their oldest was Abigail "Abby", a high school senior, who was a little shy and introverted. At least in comparison to Elle, Kitty, and Candy. The four girls had all been born within ten months of each other and hung out together constantly at family gatherings. Terry and Rachel next had two boys: Richard "Rick" who was 14 and named after his paternal grandfather, and Terrance "Jr." who was 12. Their last child, Claire, was two.

Hunter's mother also had an older brother, Victor, but no one ever talked about him.

Denise emerged from the kitchen a moment after Hunter came up the stairs. "Your food just finished warming, it's on the table in the dining room." she said and, after a hug 'hello', took a seat on the couch next to David. The couch was a sectional and sat quite a few. At that moment, Hunter's parents, his Uncle Lucas and Aunt Jenny had all found spots on it. Tyler sat in a comfortable recliner off to the side by the fireplace, and Hunter noticed he looked... uneasy; he made a mental note to talk to him about that later. Terry sat alone on the loveseat adjacent to the sectional. Hunter expected that the other seat was reserved for Rachel. Elle, Kitty, Candy, and Abby weren't there, Hunter had heard them in the Theater before he came upstairs. As for Gunner, Rick and Jr, Hunter expected they had sequestered themselves in the Game room as they always did.

As it was, everyone greeted him when they saw him, although it was more subdued than earlier. Whether that was from not wanting to wake the children that had gone to sleep or worry about Hunter's health he didn't know. He politely said, "Hi." to everyone before excusing himself to the dining room. He'd briefly wondered where his Grandmother was before realizing she was probably helping Angela with the baby. It was her first great-grandchild after all.

Even warmed up, the meal was still excellent, especially on an empty stomach. After he finished, Hunter moved into the kitchen to clean his plate. He could have just set it in the dishwasher, but he didn't see the point. He'd gotten used to doing his own dishes in the dorms, and set the clean plate and utensils back when he was done. It was only after he'd finished when he heard his older sister Angela come down the stairs, so he stepped out to meet her.

The oldest of The Grand Kids, Angela was, to date, the only one that was married, and the only one with a baby of her own. Hunter had to admit despite just having had a baby she looked fantastic. She took after their mother, so much so they were often mistaken for sisters. Like Denise, Angela had raven dark hair and dark eyes. Her hair was only shoulder length and cut into an asymmetrical bob. She had a preference for dresses and late autumn was no exception, for the season she simply modified her style with added tights or leggings.

"Hunter!" she exclaimed and embraced him in a big hug much like Elle and done earlier. Hunter hugged her back, and tried not to pay attention to her considerable bosom squished against his chest. "It's so good to see you! Are you feeling better."

"Yeah." he replied, "I guess it was just a long trip."

Angela broke the hug and gave him a happy smile. "Just imagine making it with a six-month-old baby."

Hunter chuckled at that. "Not sure I want too. I haven't seen Ed yet, was he helping you and Grandma?"

Angel shook her head and gave a slight sigh with her smile. "He's not here until tomorrow. Work project wouldn't let him go. So... no."

"Gotcha. Well I'll look forward to seeing him tomorrow."

Angela exaggerated her response. "Me too."

They both shared a laugh before another hug. "Oh! It's so good to see you little brother! Now I have to get off my feet so go away." she said shooing him off.

They both let out a laugh.

What to do for the rest of the evening?
