The Races

More info on the Big Four

The Elves

Believing themselves to be perfect and seeking no less from themselves an Elf will spend half of his or her life in pursuit of physical and mental mastery. Naturally though this gives them a Superiority complex. The Elvish people are unified despite separation before the advent of the Ship. Utilizing magic they traveled to and settled other Islands before the Gnome were even created linking their colonies with the Island Gates, allowing for easy instant travel throughout their nation. This early colonization prompted the creation of a system that gave all people equal voice in the policies that affect Elfkind leading to the establishment of the High Council. Each separate Island, ruled by the Elves, has a seat on the council that has one vote and equal right to suggest new laws and policies. The supreme ruler of the elves is the Chancellor, who is chosen to represent the Elvish people as a whole in matters of relations with other races. The Chancellor is chosen by the King Stone a magical devise created to ensure that only the most worthy Elf is chosen to lead the nation. Choosing a Chancellor can sometimes take decades and one noteworthy event was in the middle of a massive Orc invasion that nearly wiped the Elves from creation because their Chancellor had died and no replacement was found for nearly a century.

The Elves as Previously mentioned are beautiful in appearance, all Elves are 6ft tall and slender, giving them a rather fragile look. Elves prefer long hair, which ranges in color from black, brown, red and blonde to exotic pastel colors, and have almond eyes, also diverse in color, and olive skin tone. They speak Elvish which is a derivation of the the language of magic used in incantation, further demonstrating magics importance to the Elvish people. This language sounds much like magical incantation which can confuse normal non-Elves, as untrained ears cannot tell the difference between everyday conversation and a casting. Mingling amongst pure Elves and other races are rare though, with Elves almost exclusively mating within their racial pool and only adventurous Elves sleeping with the members of other races, which is frowned upon as it defies the perceived laws of Elvish perfection. Bisexuality is the norm within Elvish society.

Half Elves can be considered a sub race as Elves can mate with a variety of humanoid species resulting in the offspring having the desirable traits of both parents, such as an Elves beauty and an Orcs ferocity and brutal nature.

Elvish Society as commonly mentioned is based of the perceived notion of perfection. Elves seek perfection in all things, which makes them very highly skilled artisans but they tend to be obsessive sometime taking years to make a decision on matters of perceived importance. Their mastery of the subtler aspects of magic are unmatched, being the first race to be gifted with magic this is understandable, but they lack in the more destructive aspect, where Humans are dominant. Their architecture is oriental in flavor and tends to be very simple, yet geometrically pleasing. They produce weapons and tools of sublime appearance, even their carpentry hammers seem like works of art, despite the fact that such attention to appearance slows dow their production of everything. Elvish artwork is almost non existent, art is never created simply for arts sake, it must also have a function.

The Humans

Humanity prides itself in its diversity. It is said that no two humans are exactly a like even identical twins. they also love a challenge and are seemingly uninhibited, though in truth this changes depending on the specific people being talked about. They are ruled in small holdings that maintain their independence from each other as much as possible, it can be said that their ideas of government are as diverse as themselves. The only single unifying element in the whole of Humanity and ironically the entire Void is the Guilds. The Guilds are groupings of people with similar ideas about how things should be managed. Some guilds are more localized such as miners guilds while others such as the Merchants Guild and the Mercenary Guild are prevalent throughout the entire known void, even having some effect in the societies of the Elves, Orc'ca and the Gnome.

Humans are diverse in all manner of appearance, height, weight, hair and eye color, skin color and even overall physical structure. Their languages are even more diverse though the Merchants Guild has introduced the trade language to most of the Void in some way or another, despite this many nations of man holding onto their own unique languages. Even human ideas of sexuality are diverse with many unusual tastes cropping up in many different places and people.

Human mastery of magic is based more in the immediate than the lasting, with most human discovered spells being quick in execution and lacking in duration, humans are responsible for the discovery of most attack spells with the Elves being responsible for more defensive and utilitarian spells. Elves wish to make something work better, Humans wish it only to work. All other aspects of architecture, industry and art are different to depending on variables such as, material availability, technology, ideology and personal taste.

The Gnome

Gnome are like the earth from which they are born, pragmatic, unchanging and steadfast in their ways. They seek to use the gifts of the Prithvi to make items of practicality and, in some cases, beauty. Gnome are divided into clans, occupying territory they claim for themselves, usually with rich mineral presence, each clan is ruled by an Elder Greybeard and different functions are carried out by Gnome with different hair colors. Red beards are the warrior class, Yellow beards are artisans alchemists and mages, Black beards are merchants and diplomats, Brown beards are miners, smiths and engineers. Grey Beards are the eldest of the clan and oversee the different areas that their hair color denotes with rank being determined by the amount of grey in their beards. Gnome are responsible for the invention of the Ship, which allowed the varied races of the Void to travel without the use of possibly dangerous magic or creatures, they originally created the Ship to allow them to get to mineral rich rocks floating in the Void.

Gnome are all around four to five foot tall and stocky, being built like tanks, they are exclusively male and not initially born with beards. They have no hair on their heads save for their eye brows. Gnome are born by carving stone into the likeness of a gnome and then casting a spell on it to make it come to life. The first Gnome, the Great Grey Beard was born by unknown means from a hunk of rock that looked like a gnome and mastered the art of carving to make more Gnome, thereby establishing their race. The Gnome speak a simple guttural language that is somehow both soft and gravelly and very suitable for their typically underground environments.

Gnome magic is almost exclusively centered around enchanting and improving their creations, though use of battle magic is also common, but Gnome rarely use utility spells because they enjoy the satisfaction that comes from using their hands to achieve most tasks. Gnome tend to live simply and communally in barrack like structures carved into rock, though they also construct grand halls and vaults that can be very opulent, when no rock is available the build long houses out of whatever the can find. A Gnomes day is centered around doing what they do, whether that be mining, smithing, fighting, trading and so on they work hard all day and celebrate life when they aren't working feasting, singing, dancing and competing with the entire clan. Their philosophy towards art is similar to the elves but they believe in mixing art and functionality, a Gnome cannot be considered a master craftsman if he cannot work both beauty and functionality into his work, whereas Elves will often times sacrifice functionality for beauty. Gnome will sometimes create an item of unrivaled beauty just to test themselves.

The Orc'ca

Orcs like to fight, they like it somuch that they actively pick fights with themselves, other Orc tribes, Ogres, Elves, Humans, Gnome, Hobgoblins and, sometimes, rocks. They live in tribes that are little more than loosely organized mobs moving towards a big fight, sometimes under a leader. They have never achieved more than making themselves the single largest nuisance in the Void.

Apearing between 5ft and 7ft in height, the smaller specimen of Orc are rarely seen as most are killed and eaten at birth though some manage to survive and eke out livings as slaves. Their language is made up of snarls, growls, grunts, rude gestures, pointing and the more than occasional blow to the head. The strongest Orc mates with whomever he wants while the weaker need be content with the uglier (relatively speaking) member of their tribe. Orc'ca also delight in **** the female members of other species and sometimes the female Orc'ca **** the men of those species as well. If your beaten you belong to the Orc who beat you.

Orc'ca have little knowledge of magic, save that it exists and can be bad for them. They steal whatever they need to survive and burn everything that cannot be taken with them when they move on; so no one else can have it. Orc'ca have been known to draw crude portrayals of their victories on the hulls of their ships.
