Chapter 7

What does he suggest?
Modifying the plan
Once he could speak clearly again, The Outlander said, "Well... what if we modified the plan?"
Both Lana and Shae turned to him. "What?"
"I know you're angry, and you have every right to be. But I still love you, Lana, and I think you still love me. So, instead of me marrying Shae and being with you outside the marriage... what if we *all* get married to each other? Mandalorian vows aren't based off gender roles - there are plenty of same sex marriages. What if we take the vows together? Sith, Outlander, Mand'alor. Together to start a family."
Shae considered that. "It's unusual, but it could work," she said, still cupping her injured breast.
Lana opened her mouth, then closed it. Her brows lowered. "You betray me, then ask me to marry you?" she said incredulously.
"It wasn't meant as a betrayal. Lana, I want to start a family with you. I want to be with you. But I want those things with Shae, too. For our people, and ourselves. Just... take some time to think about it."
Lana inhaled slowly, then exhaled, long and low. "The worst part is, I don't need time. Yes, I'll accept. Because even though I am furious with you, I still want you. I still want to be yours, and you mine. I still want us to have a family. And if I have to share you with someone, I suppose I could do worse than the Warrior Queen of the Mandalorians. Besides, we got on okay on Yavin IV."
Shae smiled wryly. "Just okay? I recall you sounding more enthusiastic than that." At the Outlander's look, she laughed. "Oh, you didn't tell him? Well, while you were facing off against the Revanites in the jungle and temples, Lana and I had a little encounter of our own. Of course, you two weren't involved yet, and it was just a fling, but it was rather fun," she said.
Lana blushed. "Yes, well... there didn't seem to be a good time to mention it." Her anger seemed defused now. "So, what kind of preparations do we need for this?"
Shae shook her head. "We *could* just take each other's hands and recite the vows right here and now. But I think I owe my people more than that. Let's get dressed and tell them the good news," she suggested.
Lana helped both of them put on their armor, though the Outlander was fairly sure she was over-tightening his on purpose. Shae winced as she put her breastplate back on. "I hope it doesn't bruise," she muttered.
