Miss: Nobody's feeling helpful

After three cars of young people respectively tell you to go to hell, laugh at you, and completely ignore you, you sigh and trudge back to your car.

Checking in the trunk, you find some cardboard to put under the drive wheels. Wedging it under, you try the rocking trick again and manage to make some progress.

You have to bend down and apply the cardboard again twice before you have secure traction again.

"Sometimes God tells you you should just be home in bed," you mutter to yourself. You give the parked cars at Lovers' Lane a final wave. "Bless you all, God loves love."

Well, you do still have Darla's card.

You drive home, walk up the steps of your double-wide -- on its own lot, mind, with neighbors beyond a stone's throw -- and collect a shower before going to bed.
