Miss: Jeannie has to separate you

Julie doesn't take the flowers and candy. She only speaks to you as part of the job.

After a couple more weeks of aching hunger, which Vincent does his best to soften with regular fucking, frequent cunnilingus and recommendations for lesbian porn -- though that rather sharpens your hunger -- Jeannie Goodchild comes back from her maternity leave to take charge of the department.

"Gloria," Jeannie says, "you've been a great asset to Labor and Delivery. But this thing with you and Julie isn't working out." She pauses. "You've done very well filling in while I'm gone, aside from that." She takes a breath. "Julie is very hurt. Maybe with some time apart...? Anyway, I've put a letter of commendation in your file for your work in L&D. Go talk with Brenda and Maggie."

The Nursing Director sympathizes.

"I'd throw you a fuck, Gloria," Maggie tells you, "But Julie and I are on again. So until you and she make up, dear, I have to avoid throwing myself between you and straight into lesbian drama. For everyone's good, not least for the sake of my own broken heart."

You wince at the Nursing Director's reference to her heart attack when you went down on her. And her characterization seems a little self-serving. By taking up with Julie, part-time, you suppose -- Maggie is pleased to describe herself as a lover of variety -- she's already thrown herself cunt-first into the drama. But you can see you would have done the same thing in her place. Julie, you think, bowing your head.

Maggie continues, "Pull those big girl knickers up, Gloria. Go talk to Brenda. She and the nurse training program are your best choice, I'd say. Failing that, there's outreach. Or we can lend you to the community college medical careers program." She pauses, holding your gaze. "But I don't want to lose you."

Your heart thumps. Maggie does want you. Just not now, not with what you've done to Julie.

"Thank you, Maggie," you say.

"There you go, girl," Maggie says. An odd term, with each of you starting to show gray. "Go talk to Brenda."
