Chapter 4 by Blues32 Blues32

What happens next?

Mirrors never lie. Denise is radiating something alright.

I dropped my brat of a brother off, still glancing at my glowing self in the mirror. What the fuck did it mean? How could I glow in a mirror but not in real life? Eh, fuck it. I'm not going to school today. I decided to go over to my friend Laura's house. She was out of school now...I got held back, hence why I'm eighteen and still in god damn school. I had to make sure I wasn't going nuts.

I pulled my car up in front of Laura's house. I had known her since I was just a squirt in kindergarden. It was that sort of...friends 'til the end thing you usually see in movies. Guess it really does happen. I rang her doorbell until she answered, looking at me through her thick glasses. Oh yeah, Laura was what you'd call a nerd. Spent most of her time doing that online gaming stuff. World of Warcraft and the like. She got me doing it once. ...I didn't eat for two days. I finally pried myself from it and used all my willpower to throw out the CD and delete the program. Laura was still in pajamas, obviously enjoying the fact that when you don't go to school...YOU DON'T HAVE TO BE UP THIS FUCKING EARLY!

"Denise," she groaned, "what are you doing here? Shouldn't you be in school?" "I'm taking the day off...and stop rubbing that in, damn it. I keep telling you, Ms Spencer had it out for me, the stuck up prude," I replied, gently forcing my way inside. "You sure it didn't have something to do with you taking days off?" she asked in that sarcastic tone I was so proud of. If she wasn't such a cheerful sort, I could have molded her into a goth like me, but she was too "sunshine and rainbows" for it. She was cute, to be honest, especially without her glasses. I'd do her...but she's my best friend. I can't do it...okay, I COULD, but I won't. Friendships like ours don't come often and I wasn't about to fuck it up for some pussy.

"Fuuuuunnny," I retorted, grabbing her arm. "C'mon, you gotta see this." I pulled her into the bathroom, closed the door, and turned off the lights. God DAMN! I was glowing bright enough in the mirror to see in a room with no windows. Not very well, mind you, but I could see. Laura's gasp relieved me...somewhat. At least I wasn't insane. "What the hell is that, Denise?" she asked in a hushed voice. "You're the nerd, you tell me." I turned the light back on. That's when I noticed that Laura was looking...different. If I was radioactive, whatever I was giving off wasn't bad...because Laura was...

What's happening to Laura?
