Chapter 5 by slavedragon slavedragon

Should I look for her, or just give up and go back to bed?

Maybe she took a walk in the jungle

The beach swept back from the ocean for about 150 yards, at which point it became thick jungle. We had explored it a little bit during the day, as there was a little-worn path that led some way into the foliage. Perhaps Linda had gone that way?

I walked toward the edge of the trees where I remembered seeing the path earlier. As I entered the treeline, the light of the moon overhead was blocked by the leaves--the jungle was much darker than the beach. Still, while it was dark, the path by nature had fewer trees directly overhead, so there was a little light to see by. But it did raise the question of whether Linda would have ventured into the darkness alone. Why?

Should I head further in, or look for her back at the campsite?
