Marshall the old tattoo artist
Paige couldn't believe it. How could she be mistaken for a guy? She was a gorgeous 21 year old woman! Unfortunatly, this played right into fears inspired by her small breasts, fears that she wasn't feminine enough. These fears went back to some embarrassing experiences in her youth and had been exacerbated recently when she cut her hair short. She'd actually been mistaken for a guy twice from behind since she had short hair, though the mistake was immediately corrected both times. Now though, this Marshall just blazed on, loudly talking over her as he turned on the tattoo gun.
"Nevermind." He shook his head. "You kids today are all soft. Back in my day if a boy had flower's tattooed he'd be getting his ass kicked daily, but now it's all acceptance and tolerance..."
He continued, grumbling on to himself as he began working on Paige's tattoo. He never gave her a chance to point out she was in fact a woman not a guy, loudly blathering over her stammering voice. In fact this was the real reason that he didn't notice that Paige was a woman. He was a self involved old man who needed glasses but was too proud to admit it. But Paige didn't know any of that, so she had no comfort to her embarrassment as he began tattooing her, much rougher than David had been.
