Chapter 5 by Seahawker Seahawker

Is her appointment with Mark or Susan?

Mark

Annie arrived for her appointment the next day. As she arrived she pulled up to the security gate, and after answering the guards questions was allowed to proceed. What struck her was the security for this place resembled that of a prison. the entire grounds surrounded by an 10 foot tall concrete wall followed by another 4 feet of barbed wire. "Very odd" Annie thought to herself as she followed the long and winding road to the facility. The building itself however resembled that of a country club or maybe even a luxurious resort. The building being an elegant 2 story building decked out with a marble drive way with a large roundabout with a beautiful fountain in the middle.

Annie pulled up to the front door where she was greeted by the attendant. After handing her keys to the valet, she was directed to the front desk. the lobby was nothing short of spectacular. With marble floors, fancy furniture, a beautiful waiting area with a large T.V. and comfy looking couches. She walked up to the front desk and informed the receptionist of her arrival.

A few minutes later, A strikingly handsome and muscular man, probably in his mid 40's to mid 50's, Annie guessed emerged from the hallway. "Hello, you must be Annie. Good afternoon, I'm Dr. Mears! Please, if you will follow me to my office. Annie followed him down the hall and into the office. As you would expect from the office of an award winning and highly respected psychologist, the office was richly adorned with various, certificates and trophies.

"Now, Annie. Tell me, how can I help you?" he said as he sat down at his desk. Annie almost immediately broke down crying. "I'm lost. My parents have both died from a heart attack and cancer respectively. And then my husband was killed in a horrible car wreck. they were my world and now I have no one. I know from a financial standpoint, I'm set. But i don't care about that. i don't care about the money. i need to feel wanted, I need to feel loved. everyone that I held dear to me is now gone and i don't know what to do!!!" Said Annie, at this point crying uncrontollably. Dr. Mears offered her a tissue, which she accepted gratefully.

"Miss Lintz." he interjected after listening to her story for a few minutes. "You have suffered an unimaginable pain that is indescribable. Few can imagine or relate to the pain of what you have went through. but the good news is, it will get better. And i thoroughly do believe that we can help you achieve the kind of fulfillment you desire." he said with compassion. Annie smiled, feeling comforted by his words. "But I believe in brutal honesty. Our methods of treatment here are unusual. And I won't mince my words here, they are brutal. I do believe we can help you. But this requires a steep commitment on your part. And that commitment is permanent. In other words should you agree, you will turn yourself over to this institution. You will sign over all financial assets to us. You will also sign over all of your human rights to us. We will make whatever changes to your body and your mind that we see fit. You will have no say in any of those decisions." He said. "Now I know what I just said is a lot to digest. But i would encourage within yourself and trust me here. I do believe this will help. i will give you 30 days to make your decision. Best of luck" he said assuringly. He then handed a rather bewildered Annie a thick folder filled pamphlets, brochures and most importantly, a contract. This was going to be a hard decision.

Does she sign? Does she need more time, or will she say no?
