Chapter 223 by Johnrocker Johnrocker

What's next?

Mark gets direct with Jess

It seemed like the flight genuinely lasted for days for Mark.

It was tough being the third wheel in such a small confined place. Getting off the plane was such a relief and an even bigger relief to know that Justin wouldn’t have a chance to come with them as he had other plans.

“Jesus Christ, how damn hot is it here,” Mark said as soon as they exited the plane and found themselves outside on the runway at the Sydney airport.

“You did know it was Summer here, didn’t you?” Jess asked him, making sure he hadn’t packed only winter clothing.

“Yeah I did but damn, it’s going to take a bit of getting used to,” Mark replied.

It was bright sunshine and with the time difference from the United States to Australia, they had pretty much skipped a full day. Getting used to the hot weather after being in a very chilly San Fransisco was going to take at least a day or two to get used to.

Jess and Mark grabbed their luggage and made their way to exit.

“Can we get something to eat here first,” Jess said before they left, starving for some proper food, “Whatever that was on the plane, tasted terrible.”

Mark nodded, overall he was in a pretty bad mood. He was feeling super hot in his winter clothing, he felt very jet lagged and worst of all, he was pissed off with Jess. Although he may not have realised it, Mark’s feelings were revealed to Jess through his facial reactions.

Just looking at him, Jess could tell something was up. “You alright?” she asked him, as they made their way to the food court.

“Yeah, I’m fine,” he replied, pretty bluntly.

“So in girl code, fine definitely doesn’t mean fine, I wonder if that’s the same with guys,” she said, continuing to pester him.

He was thinking about what to say, whether to just sweep it under the rug or tell her how annoyed he felt.

In the end, Mark realised he didn’t have much of a choice, Jess was going to find out one way or another with her constant badgering. So he opened up to her.

“I know we’re not a couple of anything but I’m just kind of pissed off about you and Justin on the plane. Like seriously? On the plane, we hadn’t even made it to Australia yet,” he started explaining, “Is this what it’s going to be like every day here? You ditching me for every good looking guy you see?”

Jess stared at him while he spoke, as if she was preparing an answer. By the end of his questioning, the confidence in Jess’s face dropped a little and he could definitely tell that she started to feel a little guilty.

“All I can say is, I promise I haven’t dragged you out here just to ditch you every day,” she responded, “I probably just got a little too over excited on the plane.

Mark nodded again, hoping she had more to say.

“How about this, any time you feel excluded or lonely or anything, just tell me and I promise not to abandon you,” Jess then said, running a finger down his arm.

That made him smile. His arm shivered a little as he felt her fingernails slowly and lightly scrape down his arm. The deal seemed to be a pretty good idea that she had thought off. It made Mark feel a little more comfortable about being down here.

They both agreed and it had felt like they had at least made a little bit of progress.

“I have got one question for you though, what did you actually do in that bathroom together?” Mark had to ask, still curious.

“HmmI could tell you... but how about I show you instead,” she said.

Jess grabbed him by the hand and dragged him away from the food court area.

Show him?

What does Jess do to him?
