Margaret Peterson, an old lady

Alexa looked at her first assigned gig, a woman named Margaret Peterson. She was 70 years old and started developing memory loss. She often gets confused and forgets who people are. She’s fully capable of walking on her own and is fairly fit, but needs to be taken care of regularly. Her old caretaker moved away and she needs a new one.

Alexa looked over all of the information. She saw in bold that it was an overnight gig, and at first she was going to decline it, but then she saw the pay rate. $600/per night? Alexa nibbled her lips. Apparently Margaret and her family was very wealthy and so the pay rate was much higher than usual.

Alexa sighed. If she accepted the job it would definitely help her pay off some debts she owed and maybe staying over night with an older lady wouldn’t be so bad? Surely she would be much more understanding of Alexa’s issues than someone younger. Alexa hit Accept and was given the instructions and time. She would arrive today at 4:00 PM. Alexa looked at the clock, it was already 2:00 PM! She needed to start packing.

Alexa sighed as she gathered her clothes and everything else and then paused as she got to the diapers. Having no other choice, Alexa put the package of diapers into her suitcase along with supplies and put it in her car.

It was finally 3:30 when she was done and the house was about 20 minutes away, so Alexa pulled out of the driveway and followed the GPS.

Her jaw dropped when she pulled up to a big gate with a giant mansion. She looked at the paper and typed in the visitor’s access code and then scanned her ID to verify it was her.

The gate opened and Alexa pulled in. She got her suitcase and was met by a young woman about her age. “Hi, I’m Abigail Peterson. Thank you so much for agreeing to take care of my grandmother. Unfortunately there’s no one else who can. My parents passed away awhile ago and I have to work and care for my own family. I will make sure you get paid well for this. So don’t worry. You can use any part of the house while you’re here so when she’s sleeping or having some leisurely time, feel free to use the facilities. There’s a pool in the back, an indoor hot tub and infinite pool, a bowling alley in the basement, and all sorts of other fun stuff.”

“Nice to meet you, Abigail,” Alexa said with her suitcase in hand.

“Great, I’ve got to go now. Call me if you need any assistance. My phone number is on the fridge in the kitchen,” Abigail said. “Margaret is upstairs right now in her room so you can get settled and then meet her.”

Alexa nodded as she entered the home. It was absolutely amazing. She had never seen anything like it before. She made her way upstairs and unpacked her bags in the guest room which might as well have been the master bedroom. Then she headed for Margaret’s room at the end of the hall.

She knocked lightly on the door.

“Come in,” she heard a woman say on the other side.

Alexa gently pushed the door open ready to meet Margaret.
