Chapter 5 by hewhoismany hewhoismany

What did you try next?

Maneuvering her better opinion into more leeway.

Now that she was thinking about how a lot more positively, to the point of almost being willing to call you a friend, you wanted to really start to use your gift. “I’m so happy to hear that, Jennifer,” you told her with a faux smile, internally planning your upcoming moves very carefully. “So, you’d say that, generally speaking, you’re more willing to forgive people you like over people you don’t, right?”

By this point, she started work on the bathtub, which you knew was going to take her a long time to finish. Without looking at you, she grunts in agreement and says, “Yeah, I’d say that’s true.” So began the first brick of your new plan.

“Well, you said you like me more, right? If that’s true, you should definitely cut me more slack when I mess up. After all, we’re closer now, so you’re more willing to forgive me than you were before.” There was a short pause, and you watched happily as she stopped what she was doing for a second.

“That’s right,” she said, her voice sounding more trance-like once again. “I should forgive you.”

“In fact,” I added, deciding to try and push this as far as I could. “You should forgive me for anything I do that upsets you, no matter what. After all, you like me.”

That was a big ask, and you waited with bated breath as she inhaled, exhaled, and said, almost tensely. “Y-you’re right. No matter what you do, it won’t upset me. I’ll just forgive you.” You almost couldn’t believe you were hearing that from her. Now you had the leeway to do whatever you wanted, free of consequences!

What should you do with that?
