Chapter 9 by zewesman zewesman

“There he is! Prepare for extermination, intruder!” declared the sentinel droid has it and dozens more surrounded Wes as they all prepared to fire.

Wes opened his eyes to see the droids that surrounded him cut in half. The clear signs of a lightsaber on the cut wounds, Wes looked up to see Lord Oswall in front of him, his saber returning to his left hand as his right hand shot Force Lightning at a large group of droids.

“Alert! Alert! Unknown Jedi has attacked us! Switch priority to the Jedi!” one of the droid announced before Lord Oswall severed its head from its shoulders. Other droids found themselves shot by various blaster fire thanks to Moores and Talrik providing cover fire for the Sith Lord. Wes, not wanting to be completely useless in this situation, grabbed his blaster and began to fire as well.

“Warning! Secondary target has attacked the rear of Squad E. Regroup to Room A-5!” ordered a droid whose head was blasted off not long after. The droids began to fall back, or at least attempted to, but were all wiped out by the group of Sith.

“I think that’s all of them,” Talrik said as she conveyed the room.

“No, you heard the droid, Tal, there are other groups. We need to find them and clear them out if we want to catalog this tomb,” interjected Moores.

“Silence, both of you,” started Lord Oswall. “There is another in this tomb. We must find out who this tomb raider is. It could possibly be a Republic spy or holdover from before our return. Moores, come with me, Talrik you will go with Wes,” ordered Lord Oswall.

“Of course, my lord,” the three said in unison.

“Oh, and don’t forget to give Wes a proper weapon,” Lord Oswall said as he began down a hallway.

“Right. Here’s a vibrosword. Next time you want to sneak into an ancient tomb, at least come prepared!” Moores said as he handed the weapon to Wes, who took the weapon in his hands.

“I’ll let that slide since you just saved me, but take that attitude in any other time, and I will kill you,” Wes told the non-Force user as he turned to leave with Talrik.

“No you won’t, Lord Oswall is rather fond of me and Tals!” replied Moores, a smile on his face. Wes let out a grunt in response and continued walking.

“He’s right, you know,” commented Talrik. “You should have at least snuck down here with a weapon. These places are dangerous. Of course, you’d know that if you would have stayed with me and Moores,” Tal said, partially guilt-tripping Wes.

“Yes, I see that now. I may have made a miscalculation or two when I decided to come here alone,” admitted Wes.

“Just be glad Moores and I noticed early enough that we were able to get Lord Oswall here and save your ass,” Tal said in a teasing tone.

“Yeah, yeah. I’m gonna have to deal with a lot of shit with the rest of my group once they hear about this,” sighed Wes as the two continued their conversation while continuing their way down the hallway.
“Warning, retreat! Enemies are coming from Quadrant 3-B and opponent in front of us are too tough!” a droid shouted before Rusel cut its head off with his warblade. A wide smile was on his face as he continued to cut through the metal automatons in front of him. His Sith blade easily deflected bolts as well as any lightsaber and cut through the metal just the same.

“Hahahaha! Stupid droids! You are no match for a Sith Lord!” Rusel yelled out as he continued to carve up his robotic enemies. The droids turned and fled. Sadly, not even the distance could protect them as Rusel threw his blade, cutting the droids down remotely thanks to his Saber Throw ability. Two more tosses and a slew of droids fell in half. “BOW BEFORE YOUR SITH LORD!” Rusel declared as his warblade spun through the air until it was knocked to the ground.

“You are no Sith Lord yet, acolyte,” Lord Oswall said as he and Moores took care of the droids that were retreating to their direction. Lord Oswall and Moorse looked over the decimation that Rusel caused with his warblade. Rusel went to grab his blade as it laid on the ground, but it flew from the ground into the hands of Lord Oswall.

“Sir, is that what I think it is?” asked Moores as he stood next to the Sith Lord and examined the blade with his master.

“It seems so. The Warblade of Darth Malak, apprentice and betrayer to Darth Revan,” confirmed Lord Oswall. “This is a remarkable find. We shall take it back to Dromund Kaas to see if we can perhaps learn the location of the Star Forge,” concluded the Sith archaeologist.

“What?! No! That’s my blade!” shouted Rusel, who couldn’t believe what he was hearing. That was his blade, that he rightfully found and used to slay his enemies. By all rights, it belonged to him now. Rusel knew it was dangerous to stand up to a Sith Lord with his skills, but he did not care. That weapon was his, and he will get it back.

“You are a foolish child, thinking you can take this from me. But, I’m afraid it doesn’t seem to have any connection to the Star Forge,” concluded Lord Oswall as he tossed the blade back to Rusel, who caught it. “Do not worry, I’ll speak with Harkun so you can keep the blade. Treat it well, it has a rich history that I do hope you add to it,” the Sith Lord told the young acolyte.

“Don’t worry about that, my Lord. I shall slay every Jedi and Republic soldier I can find with this blade! It shall be bathed in the blood of the enemies of the Sith Empire!” Rusel said as he began to laugh maniacally.

“So is it, you know, ok for you to use a blaster?” asked Tal, not entirely sure of proper Sith weapon training. Wes, however, just laughed as the two continued walking.

“Yes, it’s fine. We Sith can use any weapon we like. However, we tend to stick with our lightsabers or, for the more conservative types, will use the ancient Sith warblades,” he informed Tal.

“”Ah really?! I’ve found a few of those on some digs, they are beautiful pieces,” she admitted.

“Yes, they really are,” thought Wes as the two continued on their way. “Some Sith Lords like the feeling of flesh being torn apart by their blade, seeing the blood run through the grooves. I like the feel of a lightsaber myself, so I doubt I’d use a warblade,” Wes told his companion. The two continued down their path but found no other signs of droids.

“Hmm. No sign of any more droids. Perhaps Lord Oswall got them all?” asked Tal as the two passed through another room full of nothing that interesting.

“That’s entirely possible,” started Wes before he suddenly stopped. Tal gave him a quick look but before she could say anything, Wes continued. “I sense...something nearby. I know its not Lord Oswall, I can sense him further away with someone else. Stay behind me, we don’t know what this is,” a cautious Wes told Tal as he slowly made his way forward in the hall to a room at the end.

"What is...this?" the asked in unison.
