Make the best of it

Realizing he can’t exactly run out in the street in his underwear without defeating their purpose of keeping a low profile, Alex says, “I guess we’re screwed. We’re just going to have to make due until someone comes to get us.”

After a few moments, the bathroom door opens, and Katrina steps out. Like Alex, she is stripped to her underwear. Hers is black panties and matching bra — no frills, but no extra material, either. The effect on her fit, toned body is dazzling, and Alex stares at her for several seconds before realizing what he is doing.

“Well, we’re both professionals, and it’s not like I haven’t seen you in your underwear already,” she says, matter-of-factly. Alex nods, remembering the surveillance camera in his room. “So I guess it’s only fair that you get to see me in mine,” she concludes.

Alex tries to adopt a casual posture, but his eyes keep darting over Katrina’s sexy body. He feels a response between his legs and awkwardly folds his hands in front of his crotch.

Katrina looks down at his boxer-briefs and giggles. “License to screw, huh? I remember watching when Sabina gave those to you.” Realizing that the mention of his girlfriend’s name probably evoked feelings, she hastens to say, “I’m sorry... I’m really sorry about all of this, but particularly about Sabina. I know you cared for her, and you don’t deserve what she did to you.”

Alex turns and stares at the blank wall, partly to avert his eyes from further exploration of her body, and partly to hide the fact that his erection is becoming increasingly difficult to hide.

“I still can’t believe that Sabina is a traitor,” he says. “What we had — it just couldn’t be faked.”

He feels a warm hand on his shoulder. Katrina stands behind him and says, “I know it has to be hard to deal with, Alex. I know... I’ve been cheated on, myself — although not by someone who conspired to kill me. It’s really hard.”

Alex ponders her words and savors her touch. After a moment he speaks. “So how did you deal with it? The cheating, that is?”

Katrina laughs, and says, “Well, truthfully, I got drunk and went on a wild spree of wild, casual sex. It didn’t make the pain go away completely, but it at least dulled the ache for a little while!”

Alex laughs awkwardly at her words, but he also considers what she says. “Is that her way of making a move on me?” he wonders.
