Bernie and Lil looked around "Hot". Lil went from rack to rack, looking and touching. The variety of shimmery, slinky, slick, snug, sparkly, and see-through clothes cheered her up.

Bernie tagged along, watching Lil smile as she imagined herself wearing one or another item. "Looks cute, Lil," she said as Lil held up yet another stretchy little nothing. "This store is a good fit for you. Looks like they've got everything in your size."

"Don't worry," Lillian said to her brother's stocky girlfriend. "They put all the small stuff on display for, like, the guys. They know they gotta carry things for big girls too." She looked over at the petite Chinese saleswoman who had been watching them shop. "Um, Lei?" she called.

Lei was immediately at their side. "How may I help?" she asked.

"Well, we're kind of here for me, but I wondered if you also carry Bernie's size as well."

Lei took a cloth measuring tape from her pocket. "May I?" she asked Bernie.

"Sure," Bernie said. She shifted a little uneasily as Lei quickly took some measurements of her arms, legs, and round her body. She was wearing a T-shirt and short overalls over sandals, her usual hot-weather outfit.

"Breathe in," Lei said, holding the ends of the tape round Bernie's breasts. Her eyes narrowed as she read the measurement. Somehow, a fingertip ended up right beneath each of Bernie's nipples, which stiffened.
