Chapter 8 by Shibbar Shibbar

What's next?

Madness crept in...

Nora stumbled towards her nook, a **** and tired look on her face. From the dark corners of the chamber leering, otherworldly faces slowly faded in and out, all of them staring at Nora. Nora breathed in deeply.

"This is not real, they're not real..." she muttered, but it wasn't enough. Her heart still beat like crazy, and she couldn't help but to stare back at them, wildly swinging her head side to side. Their eyes, big and round and shining like a dog at night, just would not go away. Nor their incessant chattering. They just wouldn't go away! Nora fell and cradled herself in a corner.

"Roxxy!" Nora yelled out, "Brock!" There was no answer. By each second it seemed like her flashlight illuminated less and less. "Someone! Anyone!" Her voice was as **** as it could be. The darkness writhed with unseen things. She heard a great thundering thumping off in the distance, a beat that shook Nora to her core and made her feel more queasy. The door. She remembered this thumping from her dreams. The beat was coming from the door. Her flashlight flickered, but it was no longer the only light in the darkness. A foul aura of unlight eminated from the great door, which was closer than it was before, and drew closer still. It was as if the door slid towards her like a slug, or a box on ice, but slowly, each inch closer the door growing more and more infinitely larger. Nora whimpered and then laughed. It was slow at first but it rose from her stomach, her lungs. She couldn't stop herself from laughing hysterically. Why would she stop? It's all a big farce, a joke by whatever powers were at be. She laughed with tears in her eyes. She crawled towards the door, still laughing, her fingers and toes getting cut up by the rough stone. She crawled until they were just bloody stumps. No matter how much she tried the door just got larger and more far away, until all that she could see was door and nothing else, and yet still she couldn't reach it.

"Why, why," Nora gargled between laughs, "all I want is to see what's behind it!" She no longer could drag herself with her hands and legs. She dragged herself on with her face, smashing it down over and over until she was unrecognisable, her teeth shattered, her tongue a pulpy mess, her eyes oozing and hollow. When she couldn't drag herself with her head any longer she tensed the muscles in her chest, grating it against the ground. The door just laughed at her, an unrecognisable noise not from this world.

With her last gasp Nora threw up a mouthful of crimson and then expired.

Game Over.
