Lumina Cavern

As you trudge through the gloomy tunnel, your ears pick up a low sound. You strain them trying to hear: it’s running water- definitely louder than the water dripping off the ceiling of the cave. You pick up your feet and begin walking faster. The air around you becomes more humid as you descend.

Eventually a dim light appears at the end of the tunnel, and you emerge into a large cavern.

You can’t help yourself from gaping open-mouthed at the sight before you: the entire cavern glitters with crystals, which have seemingly grown from the dark-grey rock. They emit a pale pink glow which bathes the entire room in light. In the centre of the cave, a waterfall cascades down into a bubbling lake of shimmering turquoise water; the surface ripples and refracts the light of the crystals, illuminating the bottom of the pool. Where the warm water crashes onto the surface of the lake, there is a cloud of mist, which fills the room with moisture.

You close your eyes, and the sound of running water and the feeling of warm dampness on your skin makes you feel as if you are inside a bathhouse. Stepping forward, you run your hand over a nearby outcrop of crystal. The smooth surface is wet with condensation beneath your palm.

A natural crystal hot springs beneath a mountain. You can’t help but wonder why this is a secret, being so close to a major city. Strange.

Shaking off thoughts of conspiracy, you make your way over to the waters edge and dip your hand in. As you thought, the water is pleasantly warm.
