Lucy draws a club

Lucy nervously drew the first card. Once the shape registered with her, she breathed a sigh of relief.

"It's a club! Who you gonna pick?" Kate asked.

Lucy contemplated with herself. Whoever she picked could be against her the rest of the game. At the same time, she couldn't possibly choose Cassy with the state of her attire. That would practically be criminal. Lucy made the noble decision, even if it might put Kate against her.

"You," Lucy pointed to Kate. "This was your idea, so I think you should have the honors."

"I see someone has more teeth than she likes to show," Kate responded. Standing up, she kicked her shoes off and picked them up. Walking to a table away from the wall, she continued, "I propose we use a table less hidden and have the pile at this table." Kate placed her shoes on the table. "This way, no one can hide in that little booth."

Neither Cassy nor Lucy was about to back down at this point, so they both joined Kate at a new table with the deck of cards. Placing them down, Kate prepared for her turn. Her smug look turned to a more neutral one when she saw the suit of the card she drew. Lucy couldn't help but snicker at the card.

Kate had drawn a spade, and soon she had removed her socks and placed them on the other table. "You'll see. My luck will turn around soon," Kate justified.

Cassy smiled and drew her first card. "Aw, just a diamond. No fun with this one." Cassy threw the card in with the rest of the discarded cards.

Now it was back to Lucy's turn.
