Love at first sight

“I can help you next, ma’am.” Claire took a moment to collect her thoughts and approached the concession clerk. Claire stared into the clerk’s aquamarine eyes as she approached her and felt the strongest fire spell setting her very soul ablaze. Her heart started to pound as she saw the raven haired maiden with streaks of purple that used her bangs to cover her right eye ever so slightly. Her smile brought comfort that they could go into the bowels of hell to defeat the demon king himself just because it’s a damn side mission. Her soft, puffy lips looked like two clouds that she could ride on to escape the reality she had been trapped in.

“Ma’am, did you need another minute to decide?” The clerk asked with the same, caring smile. Claire didn’t know just how long she been staring at her and felt herself blush. Claire had never felt this way with a guy and never even dreamed a girl would make her fall head over heels. Claire tried to speak but she felt like a spell of silence had been cast upon her so words were not coming out. The young lady who Claire saw in front of her had a name tag that read Veronica, who actually concerned that something was seriously wrong since Claire hadn’t answered her. Claire started to pinch herself and was casting her own spell of cleansing to allow her to speak.

“You’re just so beautiful!” Claire said that much louder than she wanted to and realized the horror of her brain just saying what she was thinking. Claire was tomato red and felt the heat radiating from every pore in her body. (DID I REALLY JUST SAY THAT!? I think I will just run away and go get hit by car now…)

Claire was about to run away while being on the verge of tears when she heard Veronica clear her throat to cause her to look up. She said with a smile, “I appreciate your bravado, Miss Knight. You may have yet won the heart of this fair maiden.” She was referencing the character on my shirt that was a knight and kindly was trying to help Claire through the awkwardness of the situation. Claire was beyond impressed as she even did the accent of the maiden perfectly let alone she might as well have cosplayed with that purple hair streak.

Claire began to feel her heartbeat returning to normal and she immediately felt her brain no longer being overloaded and said, “I’m so sorry. I really don’t know what came over me and I would understand if you would like me to leave now and just disappear from existence...” Claire was beginning to step away from the counter, feeling the stinging pain of her heartache of knowing she blew her one chance to make a good impression.

“Don’t you go anywhere, missy. Hey boss! Can I take my break now?” Claire heard Veronica ask the other person on the counter. The boss still smiling and shocked by the situation could only shake his head in agreement as there was no longer a line to worry about. “Come with me.” She grabbed Claire’s hand and took her to an empty theater that was no longer being used for the night. Claire’s heart began to race again as she was not sure what was going to happen next with her maiden.
