Link realizes he enjoys being Peatrice too much to switch back, and they all decide to stay like this.

The next day, when everyone met up again, it was clear everyone was a little uncomfortable. Link wasn't able to keep his eyes off of Pipit in was once his own body. Pipit noticed, and could clearly also see how everyone else was feeling, and asked everyone if they actually felt like changing back.

Fi in Pipit's body shook his head enthusiastically. "I sure don't. Being a mortal, especially Pipit, has helped me see the beauty in it, and in heroism. I want to stay this way, and help as many others as possible."

Peatrice in Fi's body spoke up next, her tone robotic. "I also do not wish to move to another body. The level of knowledge and intellect I have gained in this state, when combined with the sense of purpose and patience, has led me to feel less bored than I ever did before. Returning to my mortal form would be a negative experience."

To his, or her, own surprise, Link agreed. "I, I feel the same way. Being a hero, going out and saving people, it all sounds like so much work, and I have more than enough of that at the item check. I can't imagine ever going back to being Link..." Peatrice's eyes met Link's. "...sweetie."

And thus it was decided to stay as they were. Everyone settled fairly well into their new roles, and few ever noticed a difference. Link was a little more heroic, Pipit a little more intelligent, Peatrice a little more fiesty, and Fi a little more talkative, but that was it. After Link saved the world, he settled down with Peatrice, who was ecstatic every day for the rest of her life that she had decided to stay as Peatrice, and not go back to being Link. Her husband fulfilled her every desire, especially those in the bedroom. After that, how could she ever want anything else?
